Bird Rock in Monterey California

March 28, 2014 by Classystaff

Bird Rock in Monterey California
Because of the long hours I keep and the jobs that I do, it is hard to get away often for a vacation like I need. The weekends have become a salvation and I treasure the time off that I can spend at swim meets with the son or when there is nothing going on we head out for a day trip. There is a lot of neat things that we can do and places to go that is just a few hours from us.

Living in the area that I live in, we are close to Yosemite National Park and the gold rush towns in the hills. That is a fun trip to take and we do that a few times a year to just meander around. We are also just a few hours from the coast so our favorite place to explore and spend time is Monterey. It is just so gorgeous there. I love to sit and listen to the waves and relax!

I spent much of my time in California in the Bay Area and still have a lot of friends there so many times, we will head for the San Francisco area to visit and enjoy good company. That is one of my favorite places to live and I miss it so much!

Getting away for some R&R is a much needed thing for me. It keeps me sane and helps get through all of the work just a bit easier. This weekend is one of those weekends. I need to get out and we are going to do just that. Where we end up, I am not sure. Maybe we will go exploring north, towards Sacramento just for the heck of it.

Do you and your family enjoy taking day trips? What is your favorite destination?

I hope you had nice weather for your day trip. I haven’t been on a day trip in a long time, but we used to enjoy driving further out onto Long Island. There are so many different places to visit form Theodore Roosevelt’s home to bird sanctuaries to farms, etc. I hope we can do it again soon.

Since my husband doesn’t mind driving we take lots of day trips. Even though we’ve lived in the same city for 25 years there always seems to be somewhere or something new for us.

Chris, those little trips sound amazing and regenerating! I’ve never been to Yosemite National Park and the gold rush towns in the hills, sounds wonderful. I’ve heard San Francisco’s changed. I like day trips to local farms, for instance, flower farms, and bee keeping and dairy farms. No stress of long car tips for that!

It’s kind of hard for me to get away for day trips these days, due to my schedule, but when the warm weather returns, I look forward to going to the beach. I haven’t been in a really long while, but I remember it always seemed to refresh my spirit. It’s so much fun, even to look for shells!

We live in northern Kentucky. Day trips for us include Lexington and Louisville. We are so close to Cincinnnati, Columbus and Indianapolis too! So much to do so close to home!

I love day trips. Living in Florida we can do lots of weekend getaways also. It always fun and very memorable, especially if they are spontaneous.

Can’t wait to hear where your weekend travels take you and what amazing sights you’ll find. I do enjoy day trips. They are great to get away with a friend or when the grandkids come over. Hope the weather is nice for you. Have fun!
