Gardening: In Full Bloom

March 11, 2014 by Classystaff

Spring has been hitting hard here in the west. I can tell because my family has all been sick with sinus infections and other yucky effects of spring. The main problem is we get rain so infrequently, when it comes, all of the mold and pollen from the trees that has been collecting for months on end comes flying around. Plus so many trees here actually bloom, allergies are at an all time high.

The nice part about spring is that everything is so beautiful in the spring. This is my neighbor’s tree in full bloom. As pretty as it is, it is a killer too! I love spring where I live but I have to admit, I am happy when the blooms are gone and the leaves begin to grow! Do you have blooming trees or allergy issues in the Spring too?

The tree is beautiful. I do have some allergies in the spring time, but not as bad as the ones you have described. Right now it is still so cold in the east that I would welcome allergies with the warmer weather.

What a lovely tree! I can hardly wait for some sign of spring, but we’re expecting yet another snow storm later today and tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your photo and giving me some hope that spring will indeed get here sooner or later.

Sorry about your family’s allergies. I have asthma, but luckily for me, it’s not triggered by pollens or anything like that. Such a shame, not to be able to fully enjoy the changing of the seasons.

We all have major sinus and allergy issues. My daughter has lung problems so colds hit her in the winter and sinus in the spring/summer. That photo is beautiful. We haven’t gotten there yet. Yesterday we actually hit 70 but very windy and a storm blew in. Today the high is low 40’s, but it’s supposed to be in upper 50’s again for this weekend. Who knows what it will be. Spring is a beautiful time of blooming flowers and green grass, but I’m sorry for all the allergies. Good luck to you and feel better.

I am so glad I have hardly any allergies because I love getting outside as much as possible when Spring is springing just like this. However, I have learned not to stick my face in every plant I see to smell it (which I tend to do around here where there are so many wild herbs, greens and flowers to be foraged) as I can come home with a wicked case of the “achoos:”

Spring!! We had snow today. 50 degrees tomorrow. Up, down, up down. Nothing blooming here yet. The tree looks lovely. No allergies for me, thank you.

I don’t really have allergy issues (knock on wood). I LOVE this time of year it is my very very favorite! I love the tree blossoms, and the wonderful flowers, longer warmer days and baby animals. I saw baby lambs running in a field the other day and it made my eyes water if was sooooo lovely.

I have allergy issues year round. When the pollen starts turning everything yellow my sinuses go into ovedrive.
