Mailbox Monday for February 3rd

February 3, 2014 by Shelly

Every Monday, we love to share some of the neat things we got the previous week in our mailbox and we encourage all of you to tell us about the special things you got too! These special things can be gifts you received, special greeting cards or giveaways you won on the web! What about all of the freebies that showed up? Wootwoot! Let’s all celebrate the special things we got in our mailboxes last week!

silver locket necklaceShelly – Well I had a decent mailbox finally. I won a sterling silver personalized locket on another blog the #2 week in November. I had to harass the sponsor (not the blogger) to get my prize…it finally arrived but the engraving was WRONG. The necklace is beautiful and I am going to keep it but I am taking it into a jeweler to have the engraving corrected since I don’t want to mess with that company again. I also got a coupon for a FREE box of SuperPretzel Soft Pretzels and a coupon for FREE Purex laundry detergent. I love freebies!

So…what all did you get in your mailbox last week besides bills? Get any giveaway winnings or freebies? We would love to hear about it! It’s your time to brag, boast and shine! Yay!

Well, it was a good week for me, because I received the Ethel M chocolates I won here!

And this seems like a good chance to give props to TCC and to Ethel M, because when my prize didn’t arrive in a timely manner, Shelly followed up with them on my behalf, and they upgraded my prize, which I received the next day. So not only are the Ethel M chocolates absolutely delicious, but their customer service is also top notch. And so is TCC’s! Thanks again! 🙂

Yesterday my mom received the earrings she ordered with the Novica gift card I won on your blog… they’re gorgeous! So grateful to be able to give her that birthday gift. 🙂 It makes me sad to hear about all the problems people have had with getting their prizes… whenever I win something, I try to spread the word to friends and family about the wonderful company and sponsor. Isn’t that the whole point? To get your product out into the world? (And with good reviews to boot?) On the other hand, the few times I never received a prize, I didn’t do much to pursue it… I always feel bad, especially since I never paid for anything. Maybe I should be more persistent?

      Hi Keara

Definitely be more persistent! By law, that sponsor has to fulfill the prize. We go to batt for our people and have went after companies on social media, email and at times (several times) we have made phone calls into them to get prizes fulfilled.

Thanks so much- I’ll remember that for any future wins! (And thanks to you for always being so fantastic to your winners.) 🙂

    So sorry about your troubles.
We had a good week ourselves. I received the Vitality fusion book I had won from you and it is amazing. We also received two blue rays: despicable me 1 & 2 and we didn’t even know my boyfriend had won them! Yay for surprises.

I have had trouble getting prizes from sponsors even with the blogger’s help, but usually they come through, especially if you go on social media to complain.
This was a good week because I used part of the GC I had won from William Sonoma and received their Hot chocolate (Oh it’s so good, 2 oils and a kitchen scale. Then I received Yes towelettes, Glisten sample, Finish sample and coupon and Lysol coupons.

I had a good week: At my door was some cheese and in the mailbox a Zeepo mask and rubber gloves and $25 Amazon GC. (and the 1099 from the trip I won last fall, ah, taxes..)

Yeah Deb, dealing with that company was a REAL nightmare for me! I was going to purchase 5 of them for bridesmaid gifts but took my business elsewhere. No one should have to wait 2 1/2 months to receive an item that they won. That is poor customer/PR service and many of my emails to them went unanswered so I went hog wild on social media which got their damn attention then. LOL I finally got it but they put the incorrect last name on it for the engraving part. My local jeweler is going to cover it and do it correctly for me.

With that said, we won’t be working with that company on this blog since they can’t handle a prize fulfillment correctly at all. We turn down stuff & companies all of the time as Chris & I have ethics!

I hear you. I won from them last year, and it was like pulling teeth to get the prize. The customer service lady was just impossible. I was ready to get on the ferry and pay them a personal visit, as we are in the same city….but eventually she came through. That being said, I am still entering those same sweeps. If there’s a ever a problem again, I WILL get on the Staten Island ferry and see what’s up. (assuming we are talking about the same company). On another note, I won an expensive watch from another blog, (from a different sponsor), and the sponsor is dragging their feet on that. I know the blogger is working to get me the prize. They are not in my city…..but trust and believe, if I don’t get that watch in a reasonable period of time (and it has been over 6 weeks now), I will smear them from one end of the Internet to another, every hour, every day. I am retired and have nothing but time on my hands. Trust me……these people do NOT want to be my new hobby. I get very focused on my hobbies!

I had half the notion to just out them on one of my blogs. I have heard from many people that this company sends blogger items for review quickly but then drag their feet on fulfilling prizes. That is unacceptable!

I won my engraved photo locket the #2 week in November. They kept screwing around and it was part of a blogger’s holiday gift guide. Then finally the week before Christmas their PR rep stated they are too busy w/holiday rush to fulfill my prize at this time. WTH? As part of a holiday gift guide and won the #2 week in November, I expected it to arrive before Christmas. Nope! Then I had to fire off a gazillion emails, contact the president of the company, harass them on social media to finally get it (middle of January).

While it is a beautiful necklace, it isn’t worth the price they charge. It isn’t worth the 3 month stress & aggravation that I had to go through. If I had liked it, I was going to order 5 more for bridesmaid gifts, screw that! I took my biz elsewhere as I won’t deal with companies like that. Shameful business practices for sure!

Furthermore, it arrived with the incorrect engraved names on the back & they wanted ME to pay to ship it back to them? Huh? Hmmm, no! They should pay for the return postage, not me. I decided to not send it back to them because it could be at least a year until I see another one! ROFL So, my local jeweler is going to fix it for me.

As I was fighting to get the item I won, their company reps sat over on Twitter Tweeting at various bloggers to come review their picture lockets for a Valentine’s Day promo!!! What? You can’t fulfill prizes that were won in November and early December due to “holiday rush” but you can tweet at bloggers in January to come do a Valentine’s Day promo? Whatever! Whoever is running their blogger outreach program should be fired…it is unprofessional to run a business in this manner.

I won’t enter their giveaways ever again and I certainly won’t be reviewing or featuring them here on the TCC blog. As bloggers, we have ethics and that is the bottom line.

Oh my Shelly; well you have a good attitude about it. I have a hard time getting upset when it’s free like the expensive boots I won, but the zipper pull on 1 boot was bent at a 90 degree angle so it stuck straight out (and could hurt someone). The marketing lady that sent them suggested I fix it. I said it was a thin zipper pull and would likely break and she said to use super glue if that happened, lol. Super glue on a new pair of $100 boots?! They are still sitting at my the door. I will take them to a shoe place someday, lol. I won’t deal with that company again either.
Well I received my 2 lovely LED flashlights from Dorcy Direct that I won here and just love the neon green and neon pink colors. I also was sent 2 separate coffee samples that I drank already since I’m using tea instead of coffee and have none in the house! I think I like free food and drink in the mail the best!!
