It’s the great debate! Should I install laminate flooring in my home, or should I install hardwood flooring? Both have many benefits, and both also have some cons. hopefully, the following list of pros and cons will help you decide between the two:
Laminate Flooring:
• Laminate flooring is extremely popular for its affordability compared to hardwood flooring.
• Laminate flooring is easy to clean, install and resistant to moisture.
• Laminate flooring is resistant to fading, scratches and extremely easy to repair.
• The life expectancy of laminate flooring is very long, but must be cared for properly.
• Laminate flooring looks exactly like hardwood, but costs much less.
Hardwood Flooring:
• Hardwood flooring can increase the re-sale value of your home.
• Hardwood flooring has a more extensive installation process.
• Hardwood flooring is easily to clean.
• Hardwood flooring imperfections can be easily sanded out or refinished.
• Hardwood flooring can last a lifetime with proper care.
Both laminate flooring and hardwood flooring can add a classic aesthetic to your home. Laminate flooring is a great way to obtain the look of hardwood for less, and because of laminate flooring’s water-resistant properties, you can install laminate flooring in rooms that are prone to water and moisture. When deciding between both options, weigh out each and every benefit to ensure you make the best choice.

I love the look and durability of hardwood. It’s fresh and natural and just updates a look. It is a big bonus in resale value, too. Laminate flooring looks nice and is cheaper. My husband installed it. It looks a lot better and is fairly easy to clean especially over the linoleum we had, but we both would love to have hardwood. Thanks for breaking it down so well.
After reading this post I think I would install laminate flooring in areas prone to water – especially since laminate flooring looks exactly like hardwood flooring. I would save hardwood flooring if I could afford it for one area or 2 areas to increase the resale value of the house.
