Movie Review – FREE BIRDS Staring Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler

February 9, 2014 by Shelly

FREE BIRDS Staring Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler

We love having a vast collection of animated movies here in our home due to having a grandchild. Not only that, even though my husband is 53 years old, he still enjoys sitting down and watching a good animated adventure or comedy.

Free Birds was recently released on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 4th, 2014 and I received a complimentary DVD to review for all of you. Here is some information.

Synopsis: From the Academy Award®-Winning producer of Shrek* comes a hilarious animated adventure about two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks who travel back in time in order to keep their species off the Thanksgiving menu. Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler, Free Birds is loaded with laughs and stuffed with fun for the whole family!

FREE BIRDS Staring Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler

Our Thoughts: We sat down to watch this DVD a few days ago with the Princess who is going to be 5 years old come May. I will admit up front, I am not a huge fan of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson or Amy Poehler. I am not a huge fan of comedy, period. With that said, I do love Owen Wilson in that action flick called “Behind Enemy Lines”.

We sat down with the Princess and watched Free Birds together as a family. I was really surprised at how funny this animated movie was. I thought it was absolutely adorable and it had a great story line. The animation throughout this film is very well-done and the actors who did the voices were right on target.

We laughed and laughed through the entire film! It was so funny watching these two turkeys from the different side of the tracks get together, team up and fight to keep Turkeys off the Thanksgiving dinner menu. By the end of the movie, these two turkeys became great friends!

This is definitely one of those family-friendly animated films that you will want to go out & pick up for family movie night. All ages would certainly enjoy it!

I have always enjoyed animated movies and do not feel you have to be a child to watch them. My husband and I loved the Shrek films and I am looking forward to seeing this Free Birds movie.
