Over the next several weeks I will be reviewing several of their food items here on our Two Classy Chics blog and also on our sister Shakin ‘N Bakin Foodie Blog. I think you will love all of the food selections and I will be sharing some really easy recipes to go along with them.

Today we are sharing with you our review on their Halibut Fillets. If you have never tried Halibut, you really should! It has a nice mild flavor and a smooth texture…a very moist, flavorful fish that is easy to prepare.

Halibut from Sunrise Specialty Foods

The Halibut is wild caught, chemical free and is a product from Alaska. If you are a fish lover, you already know that Alaskan wild-caught fish is always delicious! These fillets are individually vacuum-packed and are sold in 5 count or 10 count boxes. They are shipped to your door frozen in a cooler with dry ice. Each fillet weighs approximately 5 oz. so it is a hearty portion that you will receive.

We love fish and seafood here at our house but are really picky about the types of fish we will eat. We mainly stick with the “mild” fish and when we prepare it, we like it quick, easy and simple. The less we do to our fish…the better.

We decided to pan-fry our fish and this is how we did it. We heated up some extra-virgin olive oil in a skillet until it was piping hot. We drudged our fish through an egg wash, then rolled them into seasoned bread crumbs. We like a lot of breading so we coated them heavily.

You always want to add your fish into the skillet when its very hot! We like using olive oil but you can certainly melt some butter. You will want to fry each side for several minutes, we like our’s crispy so we did 7 minutes per side which was perfect for us.

Pan-Fried Halibut

When it comes to side dishes…you basically can serve anything that you would like alongside them. We chose baked potatoes and lima beans for our dinner and WOW, it was delicious! I will never buy Halibut again at our local grocery store because this was at least 70% better than that! It was very flavorful and had a nice texture to it. There wasn’t a single fish bone in it! Beautifully cut piece of fish!

You can head on over to Sunrise Specialty Foods and take a look around. Once you try their offerings…you will be HOOKED for life!

I have had Halibut, and it is very good. I like this fish the best of any fish. This fish looks so fresh, and I like how you cooked it. I would love to get some of this fish and make it for me and my Dad. He just loves fish.

THis looks like a very nice piece of fish. I love almost all fish, but I want it to be very fresh. You have told us that the fish from Specialty Foods is very fresh and I may be ordering from them soon. I like your simple recipe because unless you have a hearty fish simple is best.
