Damn Clowns Creep Me Out!

February 18, 2014 by Shelly

Clown at the Pennsylvania Farm ShowLast month the family went down to the Pennsylvania Farm Show in downtown Harrisburg, PA. We try to attend the week long event every year when the Farm Show is in town.

We had a great time seeing all of the different cows, goats, sheep, peacocks, chickens, roosters, bunny rabbits, alpacas, sheep, goats, lambs, etc. You know, the typical animals you see on a farm.

One of the things that I really dislike at these types of events (farm shows, rodeos and circus’s) is clowns! Seriously, I hate clowns and they creep me the HELL out! I don’t know why I hate them, but I do!

Did I tell you yet that I Hate Clowns? Seriously, I will run the other way, shake like a leaf and feel like I am going to vomit every time I see one! I saw this ugly one you see in the photo and immediately ran to the lady’s room! Ugh! Does anyone else have the fear of clowns? I can’t stand them!

Hope you all enjoy the photo my hubby took of this seriously ugly clown because there was NO WAY I was getting near that! Well, there you have it, another “Almost Wordless Wednesday” post!

Oh this clown was ugly and creepy! I wasn’t getting close enough to check him fully out at all. I ran and ran into the ladies room for my clown melt-down that I had. I can’t stand them, I will throw out any magazine or book that even has a clown photo in them! It took all I could to even publish this post and feel sick every time I look at this post…ugh

Years ago, we were staying with friends for the weekend and a friend of theirs dropped by for Sunday brunch–and he was in full clown regalia! Apparently he was on his way to be the entertainer at a children’s party. Other than his makeup and clothes, he was pretty normal. I must say, though, that it was a very strange brunch.

The clown in your photo doesn’t look overly scary from that angle. I can’t really see his face or full costume. It’s kind of weird to me that they’d have clowns just walking around the agricultural show.

My daughter tells me fear of clowns is Coulrophobia (had to look up the spelling), and it is fairly common. I don’t know. I know several people that are afraid of them. I’m not afraid of them, but I have no real liking either. I don’t understand them. Why are we supposed to be entertained??? I can understand why people wouldn’t like them – we have Stephen King’s It and the notorious serial killer Gacy. Beyond that there is just something creepy about clowns in general. I just don’t get it. Hope you had a good time anyway.

I am usually fine with clowns. Not all clowns are scary. It depends on the makeup job. Some look funny, but too many look like The Joker where everything is fake and stiff and frightening.

I don’t have any rational reason for why I dislike clowns, but they creep me out. I haven’t really given it much thought as to the “why,” because it just IS. I don’t run away, frightened, but I do get unnerved when I see one. It’s funny how people have such different reactions to clowns.

Clown don’t bother me too much…..what DOES bother me is the bizarre things/costumes in parades. Like the Shriners, Mummers, and at Mardi Gras. It seems the older I get, the more they weird me out. I have no idea why!!

Clowns are really weird looking. I never thought much about them. But they are hiding behind a mask and they seem to want to scare people. I do not like them either! Keep them away from me.

I don’t know that i am afraid of clowns, but I do wonder about those clowns that do kids’ parties. I mean, what type of person wants to subject themselves to that torture?

I don’t know why I am scared of them but I have been like that since I was a little girl. When we go to the Circus I always make hubby buy us seats way far away from the center ring…just so I am not near any of the clowns that perform. I hate them….they make me feel sick!!!

Well this clown IS a little creepy but I normally am OK with clowns. I have to say though, the way the media portrays them and the number of scary shows I’ve watched where the clown disguise was really a bad man, I totally feel you. I would hate to meet one in a dark alley, lol, but maybe a circus would be OK.

Um, no, I don’t get freaked out by clowns. Maybe it’s the oversize shoes that you think are going to smush you.
