Why You Need the Right Accessories for Your Appliances

January 29, 2014 by Shelly

Why You Need the Right Accessories for Your AppliancesThe right accessories can make your work in the kitchen easier, save money on the utility bills and enhance the useful life of your appliances. For example, a generic water filter may work for a while with your dishwasher, but may not filter out the finest particles of minerals or other contaminants. The result will be a broken down dishwasher that needs replacement long before its time. Using the right filter can help your dishwasher produce cleaner dishes and last years longer.

Your appliance warranty may specify which filter or accessory to use in order to ensure proper coverage. Using a generic accessory has the risk of causing damage to an appliance that may invalidate the warranty. For example, using generic rotisserie spits or forks could damage an appliance’s insertion points or the electric motor. The warranty will not cover repairs for this damage. Every home in America should have a home warranty like the kind offered by https://homewarranty.firstam.com/homeowner/home-warranty/colorado.

Many stores sell kitchen and appliance accessories.  From time to time, products on sale can be found at prices well below retail. However, appliances do break down. When you need to have one repaired you should contact https://www.ZionsvilleApplianceRepair.com in Zionsville, IN.

Why You Need the Right Accessories for Your Appliances

Other accessories could include cleaners for stainless steel appliances, ceramic or stone countertops or appliance repair kits. Touch up paint for enamel sinks, ceramic tiles or appliances is a must in households with a lot of activity.

Accessories for a laundry room could include dryer racks for sweaters and other delicates, storage racks for detergents, softeners and stain removal products. For stoves, finding the right size of drip pan, bowls or chrome rings can be a challenge. Instead of working with fewer burners on an older stove, replacement burners can restore your appliance to full working order.

Whole house water filtration equipment and refrigerators with ice dispensers need specialized filters and equipment for maintenance and care. Without the right filters, mineral buildup can damage or ruin these appliances. Replacing the filters at prescribed times will ensure you and your family have healthy, clean water and ice whenever you need it.

Keep records of your appliances such as item name, serial numbers, model numbers, the store you purchased it from and the date. Staple the receipt to your record and keep it with the owner’s manual. Record the dates you change the filters and perform any recommended maintenance. If the product needs repairs within the warranty time limit, you can prove that you have taken care of the item and not violated the warranty.

I always try to staple or tape the receipt into the manual so that I have a record of when the item was bought and what accessories are recommended. I try to change filters often. I never thought about touch up paint for enamel or ceramic items.

Great tips! I always keep the manual – with the receipt stapled to it – in a file in my cabinet for every appliance we buy, even the little ones like electric toothbrushes. You never know!

You speak the truth! We rent our house, so this sort of thing is problematic for us. Our landlords have been less than helpful in the past, so we pretty much do everything on our own. But it sure would be helpful if we had user’s manuals for things like the dishwasher and built-in smoke alarm system.

Thank you for the advice. A lot of it I didn’t know and it will help me in the future.

I keep track of all the appliances at my house. I keep receipts, and warranties in case something malfunctions before its time. It is good to make sure that i change filters when needed.
