Book Review: Tangled by Emma Chase

January 18, 2014 by Classystaff

I am excited to share with you a brand new book by a new author that I was asked to review. On January 14th, Gallery Books released for the first time, in print, TANGLED by New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase. This sizzling and hilarious debut novel features Drew Evans—a gorgeous, arrogant, irreverent, and irresistibly charming businessman—as he meets his match in new colleague Kate Brooks. The author, Emma Chase, has recently won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Debut Goodreads Author, and TANGLED is currently ranked at #18 on Amazon’s list of the Best Romance Books out now on Kindle! I was looking forward to reading this book now that it is out in paperback format.

Snyopsis: Drew Evans makes multimillion-dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu, but we all know that’s not really true.

When Katherine Brooks is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

How can one woman turn a smooth-talking player into a broken, desperate man? By making the one thing he never wanted in life the only thing he can’t live without.

My Thoughts: This book is unique in one very important way. It is written entirely from the male character’s point of view and it is funny. At first I could not get into this book. I had just read a book with a very very similar plot and I kept thinking about that. But once I got past the first 2 chapters, it really picked up for me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story that comes from Drew’s brain.

Emma Chase made Drew a cocky, strong willed, head strong man with a mouth that won’t quit. He is witty; sometimes pathetic; has a bit of a potty mouth and thinks he is God’s gift to women – until he meets the right woman. Then all bets are off. Kate, the one that makes his poor heart pitter patter, is a perfect match for him with her strong will and determination to get ahead. She is a brainiac and gives Drew a run for his money – literally.

The storyline is a traditional office romance type of novel with lots of steamy scenes. But what really makes this book unique and over the top is the awesome writing talent the author has and her ability to take this story to new heights with wit, humor and a peek into the male psyche.

Tangled is a funny read that will keep those pages turning and the memory of this book in your mind long after you have finished. Emma Chase is an author you will want to watch for more to come.

I am sure that I shall find this an interesting ad funny book to read. I do like to read romances and this one taken from the man’s point of view will be more intriguing than others.

I loved this book. It was so funny and showed things from a male perspective.

I read this book back in June when it was first on Amazon Kindle. I LOVED it! Such a different take on this kind of book. Switching around the POV makes this so fun and unique, it’s just great! I can’t was for the next two in the series which come out later in the year!
