Shopping for Children’s Socks

Are you tired of looking through the laundry for your children’s socks and trying to match them up? Are you sick of never being able to find two that go together? This can even be frustrating when you are trying to help your child get dressed in the morning. If the pairs have come apart in the drawer, you might have to dig for a long time to get two that are the same.

If you feel this way, you should know that there is one simple tip that can change the way that you buy socks for the rest of your life. It will get rid of all of these problems and make both washing and sorting the socks two of the easiest things that you do. That tip is as simple as you may expect: You should only buy one type of sock.

Just pick your child’s favorite color, or go with a neutral color like white or gray. Throw away all of his old socks and just buy ten pairs that are all exactly the same. They should be the same size and the same color. Now, it no longer matters which sock gets paired up with which. They all work together. Just grab any two and you are good to go. You may need to have some extras – such as wool socks for the winter or dress socks for weddings – but the main bulk should all be identical in every way, and you will love it.

I think that this is a great tip and I do this for my husband with 2 colors : white and black. When my kids were little it was harder because they wanted different colored socks.

Good idea and convenient if you can do it. I do this for mine. My daughter is grown and loves having fuzzy colored socks. She has many different ones. What she does is after washing you puts all of them in pairs and folds them and takes the tops and rolls one over the other so both socks stay together. Since they all are completely different colors we don’t have trouble sorting and trying to match up by length or exact shade.

  3. I couldn’t bring myself to throw away the old socks, lol. I would have to turn them into something, upcycle or recycle into a sock monster I guess. Kids like colors so don’t know if this tip would go over well with them.

I really should do that too. I just finished cleaning my daughter drawers and found so many missing socks.

What a great tip! I actually do this for my husband (although he has 3 colors – white, tan and black) and it makes life so much easier when folding the laundry!

What a great idea. I soooo need to try this idea with my 3 boys. I just bought socks the other day and it is already a nightmare.
