Sometimes I really need a cup of coffee or two. You know how some days can be; you feel sluggish and your brain just can’t seem to focus. A Friday that feels like a Monday kind of day or a day after staring at the ceiling in the dark all night. I’ve reached for Red Bull (eww), Monster (foul), and 5 Hour Energy (ick) on those days, but the drinks are foul for my taste and leave me feeling jumpy. After splashing my face with icy water on a foggy brain day, I received an email offering a sample of Energems Energy Candy. I saw “energy” and “chocolate” and responded with ‘yes, please.” Energems Energy Candy is made in the US from quality chocolate from Chicago, caffeine, B-Vitamins, and a proprietary energy blend. L-Theanine, a natural supplement which improves memory, focus and concentration, is added to reduce the caffeine jitters.
Energems are like a cross between M&M’s and an energy shot, but larger than M&M’s. Milk chocolate, caffeine, and B Vitamins wrapped up in a candy coating. There are three flavors, mint chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate, and milk chocolate. I dropped box into my purse and gave some to hubby for his desk at work. Instead of the afternoon cup of coffee, we popped a gem or two. Or three on bad days. 1 box (9 gems) gives the same boost as drinking 3 cups of coffee. Taking more than two boxes a day is not recommended.
I noticed a little more energy when I popped one and felt pretty hyped with three. When I say ‘hyped,’ I don’t mean jittery or on a caffeine-induced high. I just felt peppy and clear-headed, but without the blood pressure spike or sugar high. The best part was the lack of crash. Once an energy shot wears off, I am done. It’s like I’ve been hit by a bus and need to lie down. When the Energems boost wore off, I felt fine. No sudden stop or desperate need for more. Hubby and my sister-in-law had similar experiences.
