Good morning everyone! Well, we are officially one week away from Christmas and I am looking forward to it getting here and getting over with. A lot of family stress going on right now with my great auntie being in the hospital with a fractured back and hip. Sigh, it is going to be a rough holiday season for us.
Today’s Topic: Let’s talk about your holiday dinner! Are you cooking or going out? When it comes to your holiday meal, what classics do you enjoy? Do you do a ham, roast beef, turkey or what as your main dish? What is your one MUST HAVE holiday meal item? For me, I gotta have my glazed ham…just have to! Then my second must have is cherry cheesecake for dessert! We do the traditional Christmas ham here in our home!
Congrats to our lovely winners! I always like sweet potatoes but at the holidays dress them up and allow myself the extra sugar. We have a few birthdays in the family after Christmas, so we just extend the holidays to the rest of the month–doesn’t that sound nice?
I a so glad I won. Thank you thank you thank you! We are having ham christmas eve!
I hope your auntie is feeling better soon. Do they know when she’ll be able to come home? Remember to take some moments to escape and breathe. Enjoy your holiday even if it isn’t what you thought it would be. Having a loved one in the hospital/or sick is always stressful and concerning, but you are still allowed to take breaks and enjoy the season.
We cook a meal for the holidays. For Thanksgiving, always turkey and ham on New Years but Christmas can be either turkey or ham. We have either homemade mashed potatoes or homemade stuffing and pie. Fudge is a must. The pie is normally pumpkin but can be apple or pecan, but fudge….chocolate with half nuts and half without. The other must haves are Texas-sized rolls and deviled eggs. You have to have those at all three of the holidays. Savor every moment of your glazed ham. 🙂
Congratulations to the 3 winners.
I am so sorry that your great auntie had to be hospitalized for a fracture back and hip. I hope she is not in too much pain and I shall remember her in my prayers. Yes the stress is building as I continue to prepare for Christmas: the gifts, the cards, the baking, the preparing the house for the family, etc. Yet I wouldn’t not do it. I love Christmas.
Oh, how I understand you, I love holidays but it’s a lot of stress for me. We are visiting my in-laws this Christmas but it would be me who is going to do almost all cooking (with my DH’s help). Traditional dishes for us — lasagna and banana pudding
