New Year’s Eve Traditions and Party Fun!

December 30, 2013 by Shelly

pine cones and snowIt is hard to believe but tomorrow is New Year’s Eve! I am ready for it and I am looking forward to seeing what the year 2014 brings my way. I am praying that it is all good things to come!

What are some of your family’s New Year’s Eve traditions? Do you have any? If so, what are they? What do you typically do on New Year’s Eve?

For the past 30 years we always cook up a seafood feast on New Year’s Eve and steam up some shrimp, crab legs, scallops and lobster tails. We have done this for years and it is always something we look forward to doing. We also watch movies, play games and stay up until 3am in the morning.

This year we will be having our seafood feast early in the evening and then heading out to cover the Strawberry Drop in downtown Harrisburg. Oh my gosh…highs will be around 22 degrees so I am not looking forward to freezing my butt off. Sigh, the perks of working on New Year’s Eve!

Strawberry Drop…what is that? Please take photos. You had me at strawberry. 🙂

I can’t believe the year is over….Honestly, I’m still having trouble thinking 2013. It just doesn’t seem real. We don’t really have New Year’s Eve traditions. We normally watch movies or play games then catch the ball dropping. For food, we do a New Year’s Day dinner. We have ham, deviled eggs, and of course black eyed peas. They are a must and bring good luck for the upcoming year.
