Nancy B’s Science Club AquaScope by Educational Insights

December 11, 2013 by Shelly

aquascope

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!

For my review I received the Nancy B’s Science Club AquaScope & Underwater Wonders Activity Journal Set to review for all of you. This set is made for ages 8 and up and includes the AquaScope and the 18 page Underwater Activity Journal.

AquaScope Features: Expands to nearly 2 feet in length, soft rubber eye cup, collapsible body for easy storage, thermometer strip on reverse side measures in Fahrenheit and Celsius, water-resistant housing, 3 built-in LEDs (flashlight) and a built-in ruler to measure specimens in inches and centimeters.

18 Page Activity Journal: includes various activities including observation, data collection, creative writing, drawing and more!

Our Thoughts: We took this item down with us to the beach back in early September and had a great time with it. My hubby is really into natural science so he took the princess down near the bay where the waves are much smaller so that she could look underneath the water at the algae, tadpoles, seaweed, etc.

I didn’t take my camera along with us because last year I accidentally dropped my camera into the water and ruined it. Now I don’t take it any where near water!!!

It is made for children ages 8 and up and I agree with that age recommendation. The Princess is 4 1/2 and we did have to help her with it. Younger kids can use it but would need your assistance with it. We really appreciated that its made out of durable hard plastic which is lightweight. When using it, I do suggest you bring along an old towel so you can dry it before putting it back into the car.

While it does take up some room in our car & luggage, we are glad that we brought it along for the trip. Matter of fact, we will be taking it with us next Spring when we go to the lake and next June when we go back down to the beach. It’s a great item to help teach kids about science!

You can purchase the EDUCATIONAL INSIGHTS NANCY B’S SCIENCE CLUB AQUASCOPE AND ACTIVITY JOURNAL directly from Amazon for a really great price.
