Let’s Talk — Christmas Trees!

December 1, 2013 by Shelly

redholidaytreeGood morning everyone! I am up bright and early today…been up since 4am and just got back from sunrise Mass. Dang…its pretty cold outside today and I couldn’t wait to get back inside my warm and cozy house again.

Today’s Topic: Let’s talk Christmas trees! Do you use a real tree or an artificial tree? How tall is your tree? Do you go small or large? When do you typically put up your tree and when do you take it down?

We use artificial trees here due to my allergy to pine trees. We put up 2 to 3 trees every year. Our one tree is 8 foot tall and quite large…very large! Our other 2 trees are only 5 foot tall and I love both of them because they are pre-lit trees. We will be working on our trees this week and we usually take them down the weekend AFTER Christmas.

Congrats to the other winners and I’m looking forward to my garlic olive oil. Thanks again for all the great contests you have here.
I live alone and will often have a tumbleweed tree. I have some little ornaments and a bit of tinsel.

Although I love real fresh Christmas trees, I have used a small artificial one the last few years because my husband reacts to the odor of the fresh pine. Since I love that scent I try to use sprays, etc. and I usually have a fresh wreath on the door. We still enjoy decorating the tree .

I love having a Christmas tree. When my kids were younger, we bought or cut down real trees. My daughter has problems when she would go to get gifts from under the tree or decorate though. She has sensitive skin and would itch. So my son would play Santa. We only did that when my kids were quite young deciding to use an artificial as they grew older. My daughter has always wanted to do the small, sad “Charlie Brown” trees, but we’ve out voted her. She has talked me down to a three or four foot tree. She’s always been a good spirit about it and helps me set it up and decorate. We like to do it the weekend after Thanksgiving. Play Christmas music and just get into the spirit. A good bonding time!

I love Christmas trees! I use an artificial tree now because I have developed allergies to pine and pecan trees of all things. I have an 8′ slim tree so that I can put it in the Living Room and see it from other rooms. But next year I have to get a shorter tree. Just too hard to go up and down a ladder with my Lupus zapping my strength. I like lots of lights too! This year I am using solid red and solid white ornaments. Got mine up day before Thanksgiving and take it down on New Years day. My mom passed 3 years ago and she always said it was bad luck to take it down earlier. Would love to see some pics when you’re done!

I have a very small artificial tree too, due to a small apartment. I burn the Christmas incense and get in the mood that way. Upside is I don’t have to clean up any tree messes. I do play the crackling, roaring fire DVD since I live in warm California. I paid 99 cents for that DVD and sure have used it a lot, lol.

We use small artificial tree. It is less messy, easy to setup and take down.

Since we live in a condo, we have to stick to a fake tree, which I frankly hate. I so love the smell of a fresh tree in the house around Christmas. I try to compensate with burning christmas-y organic essential oils.
