I recently received a unique product for review that my 8 year old son got to have a hand in testing out as well. Today, I’d like to introduce you to great little product that was designed especially for kids and their Nintendo DS games. It’s a durable game holding wristband from a company called Shade of Redd, which fits on kids from ages 5 to 15 and holds up to four game cartridges at a time. As a parent, we know those little cartridges are not cheap and can easily be lost or misplaced. My son has a fairly large case for his cartridges, which is somewhat cumbersome and quite frankly, I don’t like for him to travel with all of them as they are expensive and the chances of something getting lost increases with each one we bring!
This simple, yet sturdy band of silicone fits nicely on my son’s wrist and he liked the fact that he could travel without the big game case. Not only is this great for plane trips and car rides, it’s also very convenient when my son is visiting a friend’s house. It keeps him from toting too much with him. It definitely lightens the load and he doesn’t seem to mind only taking four games along. I was worried that he would think four games wasn’t enough, but he normally only switches between two or three games, so it was the perfect accessory for him. This handy wristband not only keeps its owner from losing their cartridges, but its durability also provides protection for the cartridge as well. The only downside I could see with this wristband is if its owner washes their hands and ends up getting the cartridges wet. There isn’t any kind of protective layer over the wristband, but the games do fit tightly inside the wristband, so a little splash may not make a huge impact. Still, I wouldn’t take my chances as we determined earlier, these little games cost a pretty penny.
The band is comfortable and easy to take on and off. We inserted both DS games as well as 3DS games into the band. The 3DS game has a little tab on the top corner, so it didn’t fit as perfectly as the others, but we still managed to make it work.
With this convenient product around your child’s wrist they will have access to their games, which is great for active kids. They come in various colors including pink, purple, red, blue and black and are very affordable at only $10. These wristbands would make great stocking stuffers this holiday season for the game-loving kid or kids in your life.

I bet your son loved trying out this product! 🙂 I had never heard of this before, but it would be very convenient. A unique idea for traveling with games and keeping them easily in reach. Not only would you not have to carry a case on a plane or car but you don’t have to worry about the kids trying to unbuckle to reach the case and change games. The fact that it is comfortable and fits securely make it a very useful product and affordable, too. Looking into it now for my grandson. The fact that you can get it in blue is a bonus in his book.
Sometimes the simplest ideas work well. This is definitely a handy device to use to carry a few cartridges and as you saw your son was very happy to have and use it.
