Family Friendly Activities for New Years Eve
New Years Eve is a wonderful night for a fun family get together and family friendly activities. While some adults still love to throw or attend a great party, setting up family activities for New Years Eve is a wonderful way to stay home and have fun! It is not hard to make this night a special evening that will remain in your children’s memories for a long time to come!
Here are some great ideas that we came up with to enjoy together!
– Movie Night – Disney Movies are always a family hit depending on the age group. Who can go wrong with Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Cars, Peter Pan, Snow White, 101 Dalmations, etc.? Don’t forget the popcorn and snacks.
– Game Night – Grab an assortment of fun games to play like Monopoly, Life, Checkers, Chess, Scrabble Jr., Uno, Yahtzee, Sorry, Gin Rummy, Go Fish, Trouble, Backgammon. Maybe set up a few tables depending on how many people you have playing. Have some funny white elephant prizes for winners and losers.
– Ice Cream Sundae Party: Creating your own sundae is always a treat. Grab some vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream with some hot fudge and caramel sauce topping. Add some bowls of chopped nuts, cherries, sliced bananas, etc. so everyone can build their own treat.
– Kids Night Big Sleep Over with pop up tents and forts. This was a favorite at our house and with fun activities and movies, they will have a blast.
– Arts and Crafts Night Make it a winter or valentine’s day theme and grab some construction paper, yarn, paints, paint brushes, colored markers, beads, feathers, etc. You can have the kids make paper snowflakes for a winter them to decorate your windows or have them make early Valentine’s Day cards for their friends. After all, Valentine’s Day is only 6 weeks away! Or try Thank you cards (card making) for another craft family craft since lots of thank you cards need to sent after the holidays. We enjoy the Yoobi Craft Kits which are always a lot of fun!
Choose some fun activities for your New Years Eve to keep the family entertained and together on this special evening. What are you going to do with your family this year?
