I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do on a lazy holiday like new Years Day is cook. It is a day of rest and relaxation. Typically the day where holiday decorations get removed and put away and plenty of TV or reading just seems to feel just right. Unfortunately eating does have to happen, so having some easy family friendly recipe ideas that are quick to whip up and feed a crowd, if necessary, is just the ticket. Here are a few tasty ideas that you can use for your New Years Day meals.
Omelet Bar – Put one person on Omelet making duty and allow each person to create their own with small bowls of these type of ingredients:
Left over Ham pieces
Shredded cheeses
Chili
Green chilies
Spinach
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Crumbled Bacon
Crumbled Cooked Sausage
We love the Easy Tomato and Jalapeno Omelet Recipe which is a favorite with our family. You can find the recipe right here on our blog!
Create a Sub Sandwich – Grab some soft rolls or wraps from the deli and grab the fixings for a delicious sub sandwich all of the family will love. Try something like these recipe ideas:
Pan fry Chicken Breasts
Cold cuts and Sliced Cheese
Pan fry thin Steaks – Cook onions, Green peppers in butter for Philly Cheese. Don’t forget the Cheese sauce
Thin sliced Roast Beef in au jus
Assorted Veggies
Meatballs in tomato sauce
Make Ahead Meals
Chili and Cornbread or Rice
Lasagne
Spaghetti and Meatballs
Taco Meat for easy to make Taco Bar
Put Your Slow Cooker to Work
Pork Roast to shred for BBQ sandwiches or add Green Chili Sauce for Chili Verde burritos
Beef Roast to shred and add Chili Colorado red sauce for burritos
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Potato Soup
Beef Stew
A classic here in our home for New Year’s Day is slow cooker pork roast with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes on the side. Traditional, easy to make and delicious! What do you typically serve on New Years Day?

great ideas for new years thanks for sharing.
Slow cooker for New Years! Black eyed peas and ham. No fuss, no muss.
An omelette bar, what a great idea! We are all big egg eaters here, and this is perfect! We always have 3 or 4 different kinds of cheese in the fridge – I’d love to combine them all with the mushrooms and bacon. I especially like that it doesn’t involve any baking in the oven! Thanks for a great idea. And Happy New Year!
This is a great idea. My kids and husband would love the subs, not the omelettes. I know that I don’t feel like cooking on New year’s day.
Great ideas! I wish I had a creative imagination but since I don’t I’m so fortunate to have your blog on my list of reads. Thanks so much.
These are great ideas for New Years Day. I especially like the omelette bar idea I have never thought of doing that before thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.
