Dance Off the Inches: Hip Hop Cardio Party DVD
I am all for getting fit while having fun. I don’t think there is anyone that loves a boring workout plus with all of the fun workouts that are out there, I don’t think there is any reason for getting bored. And if you love to dance, you are going to want to check this out. I received a new DVD to review and it takes the boring out of the mix.
Dance Off the Inches: Hip Hop Cardio Party DVD with Jennifer Galardi is brand new this month just in time for those New Years health resolutions!
Part of the Dance Off the Inches series, this DVD is full of 3 great routines that only needs 10 different moves. It is lively and you are going to enjoy the music while working out. The 3 routines are:
Hip Hop House
Old School Routine
Video Jam
The DVD is broken down into several parts. The first thing I did was the Step by Step lessons of the moves. Now I am not a great dancer in the least, so this was really important for me to do this portion so that the workouts were effective. Jennifer does a great job working through the 10 dance steps so that you get every bit of stretch, moves and steps for the best workout. Some of these steps are complex but she goes very slowly, literally showing you movement by movement how to work the dance routine. This segment lasts 26 minutes and trust me it is worth it to do this several times before working out, unless you know alot of dance moves, which I don’t.
Some of the steps she uses are:
Cabbage Patch
Old School Shuffle
Roger Rabbit
House Hip Hop
Glide
Sweep
Slide
Push
Dig and Shake
Swivel Step
These moves all offer amazing work outs for your legs, core and arms and some do require good balance, which will improve as you work through the directions. Also this is really not a workout to do on carpeting. You will need a smooth floor for the best results.
Another nice part of the DVD is the Warm up. Wow. Jennifer takes you through 5 minutes of isolation warm ups starting with the neck and shoulders and all the way through the legs. I can do the warm up over and over and get a great workout alone! In fact, I did that several times before moving on to the some of the dance routines.
The routines are fast and lively and you will definitely get awesome workouts with these. She has 2 other people dancing along with her, but there is no beginner to follow with this DVD. You will need to work through the step by step directions first if you are a beginner. That helped me.
I am not good at this workout at all but just by trying the moves and trying to keep up with Jennifer, I got a great workout. I could feel every stretch and pull and that made me know that this is a wonderful all over workout session that is lively and fun.
