Christmas Tree Toppers

December 3, 2013 by Shelly

redholidaytreeGood morning everyone! We enjoyed a lovely breakfast with our grand daughter this morning & then dropped her off at Preschool. She goes full days now and is in Pre-K.

Today’s Topic: Let’s talk Christmas trees again today! As you all know, we moved into our new home back in early January of this year. I am still unpacking and trying to locate things. I couldn’t find my tree topper so I ordered a new one online & hoping it will arrive today. I purchased a 5 Point Star made out of Capiz Shells and it is pre-lit. It is for my coastal tree. Our other tree which is 7 foot tall will get our antique angel tree topper once we put it up this weekend. So, I would love to hear what kind of tree topper do you use? Does it hold any special meaning for you?

I recently purchased this Kurt Adler Capiz Star Christmas Tree Topper for our Christmas Tree. I decorate a holiday tree every year in a beach & coastal style. It looks perfect!!!

A belated Congratulations to the 2 winners.
We have always used a star as the topper to the tree. It is always the last thing we attach and then light up on Christmas Eve. I am eagerly awaiting the photos of your tree and new topper.

I actually don’t have a tree topper. When I was a kid we had a star, but I haven’t been able to find one that I like for my own tree. I’ll look harder at the after-Christmas sales this year, though!

I hope that you will post a picture of it when it arrives. From your description it sounds just like one my husband and I had way back in the day. I mean WAY back. It was one of the prettiest ones we ever had. The shells let the light through and it was gorgeous! During a move it got lost and I have one from Bronner’s. A huge acrylic one that looks like clear silly string. It is pretty too, but I miss the old one.

      Hi Robin

Yup, I will get photos. It just arrived so waiting for grand daughter to come over & put it on the tree for us. It is a 5 point star made out of capiz shells and inside the star are lights. I can’t wait to get it on the tree!

I love how you are going to have a new topper but you have an antique one, too. Does it matter who puts it on the tree? Is there a tradition of when it gets placed? We’ve used a couple of tree toppers from a simple, cheap green star to an angel. The angel is older, and my husband and I have had it for years. It’s what normally goes on top of the tree, and things feel right when she is up there watching over us. We don’t have traditions about when to put her up, but we always like the angel. Even when my kids were younger and wanted the star we would still take the angel out, too.

It has arrived! When the Princess comes over I am going to have her put the topper on the tree & then will get some photos for you all. In the past our daughter did the tree topper but now that she is grown, we have having the princess put it on for us every year.
