Black Eye — Black Friday!

December 2, 2013 by Shelly

redholidaytreeGood morning everyone! I am up bright and early today because I had a 5am doctor’s appointment! Yup, my doc gets her day started at 5am which is a good thing as we can all get our treatments early & then go to work.

Today’s Topic: How many of you went out shopping in the retail stores for Black Friday? Personally, I haven’t done that for over 12 years now. With that said, my sister-in-law goes out shopping starting at 4am every time Black Friday rolls around. I think its foolish and dangerous at the same time. This year I think she learned a hard lesson about that!

She was shopping at the mall and was in the parking lot waiting to get in the doors at 5 or 6am. Well, people started pushing and shoving in line and she turned around and yelled at them to knock it off. Within a few seconds of that a big girl jumps her and starts punching her in the face. After a few minutes it was broken up by security but my SIL ended up with a big black eye and several bruises & scratches to her face. It is a shame that people can not behave themselves and have to act like untamed animals on Black Friday. I have a feeling my SIL won’t be out shopping on Black Friday again!

I don’t know if this is possible, but I’d volunteer to help with the entry checking part of your winner picking. Early morning is not usually my favorite time of day, but I’d be glad to help out, at least when you’re super busy. What do you think?

I haven’t shopped on Black Friday for years – until this year, Don’t know what all the fuss is about, though! My husband and I went to the mall at 5 am to make a RETURN (!!) at Sears. Got a parking spot right in front by the entrance. One person in line at the checkout in the store. No screaming, yelling, line-ups – nothing! And there were awesome buys (although we didn’t actually buy anything!).

Sorry about your sister. We only went to Walmart (Thanksgiving night) and Kohls (around lunchtime on Friday). We encountered nothing like that. Everyone was polite…my only “injury” was my hubby bumping into me with his cart! At Kohls, I bought a $225 jacket, a $179 set of sheets, 3 nice mens sweaters, 3 nice men’s dress shirts, and an outdoor rug. I paid $180.00 and saved over $600.00. I will only do one or two stores, and even so, I’m gonna have to save more than $100 to wait in line.

    Congratulations to the 5 winners.
I am sorry that you sister was hurt . That is one of the main reasons I will not go shopping on Black Friday. I rather shop online or go to the store on another day.
I hope everything was okay in your eye examination.

Yikes that’s awful! I haven’t shopped on Black Friday in several years. It’s usually a fabric or linen place where the crowd isn’t so hostile but you never know. Congrats to the winners and hope everyone has a lovely week ahead.

People are worse than animals at Black Friday. I don’t understand it! What is it about sales that makes people beat each other up? Is it worth the hassle to save a couple of dollars? OMG!
