The Vintage Teacup Club by Vanessa Greene

There is something lovely about a un-stressful book. One that you can just mindlessly read on and on and never worry about who done it or trying to keep track of all of the cast of characters. I think that is why I love reading women’s fictional literature, AKA chick lit, so much. I know when I sit down to read, I can just get lost in the story, shut everything off around me and enjoy. I received just the book for that to review for you and it has just been re-published for you to grab.

Synopsis:
When Jenny Davis comes across a beautiful vintage tea set at an outdoor market in the English countryside, she’s convinced it’s fate. A young bride on a budget, she has her heart set on a vintage tea-party theme for her wedding and the gorgeous gold-rimmed china before her is perfect. There’s only one problem. Two other women have fallen in love with the set too – all for different reasons. So they come up with a solution: They’ll share it!

Through the book, these three strangers establish a sisterhood by sharing the ups and downs of their lives with each other. From broken hearts and weddings, to family drama and career dreams, they become closer and closer friends. When a figure from Jenny’s past threatens to ruin her big day, Alison’s teenage daughter pushes her to the limit, and Maggie’s romantic life is thrown into turmoil, the members of the Vintage Teacup Club band together to cement and prove their newfound friendship will last a lifetime.

My thoughts:
I love the idea of this book. 3 strangers meet under strange circumstances and form a bond that grows throughout the story. The book is written from Jenny’s point of view and each chapter features one of the women and their daily trials. While the name of the book would allow you to expect a book about older generation women, it is about a 20 something and two thirty something women; so an easily relateable age group.

Set in the English countryside, the story has some normal twists as you learn about each of the women in business and personally. While some of the story line could have been developed fuller, I think that the author did a good job creating likable people that made you want to keep reading plus really hope that this book has a sequel of sorts, so you can follow The Vintage Teacup Club through more of their lives. That is good for a first novel.

I enjoyed the storyline and as I said earlier, it is definitely one that you can breeze through and enjoy with a cup of tea at your side. While it is not overly dramatic, there is a bit of drama to keep things moving and a bit of stressful situations that the women had to deal with all the while developing their own friendship along with way. It is a feel good story that we often need as a break from out own crazy lives.
