The Statue of Liberty in Dauphin Pennsylvania

November 19, 2013 by Shelly

The Statue of Liberty in Dauphin Pennsylvania

In Dauphin Pennsylvania you will find a tribute to lady liberty, the Statue of Liberty that is! If you are ever driving up route 322/22 and passing through Dauphin you will see Pennsylvania’s tribute to the Statue of Liberty sitting out in the middle of the Susquehanna River.

Although she looks small in size in this photo, she actually stands 25 feet tall and sits on an old stone bridge column. The only way to get to her is by boat and going out into the middle of the river.

Over the years she has become quite the “tourist” attraction around here and those who enjoy taking road trips through south central Pennsylvania usually make a point to stop and see her. The traffic is very busy on route 322/33 so you will definitely need to pull off at a safe place to get a good look at her.

She was made back in the late 80’s by a local artist in the area with community and business donations who helped to fund the project. On clear weather days (no river fog) you can really get a good look at her and I must say…she is beautiful!

Well there you have it! Another “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post for this week. Enjoy!

I never knew that there was replica of the Statue of Liberty in Dauphin, Pa. She is in a great location (I don’t think it is tacky) and I can understand how she would be a tourist attraction. I just wish your photo had been bigger.

I am so glad that you shared this1 I never knew this existed, and I am a huge Ms. Liberty fan. This is close enough for us to see on our travels in PA. Super Cool!

Beautiful photo. This would be wonderful to see with the fall colors in the trees. I didn’t even know this existed. My daughter went to New York and wasn’t able to go to the Statue of Liberty due to fog advisories. She took a photo of herself with a small statue on one on the streets. How great a trip to the northeast to see this would be! I’ve never been to Pennsylvania, but this gives me another site to put on my list.

It is really cool Julie! Last year we took a boat ride out to see it and I didn’t take my camera then as I didn’t want it to get wet and ruined.

Interesting. There’s also another one at the New York, New York hotel in Vegas. But I prefer the real one just a few miles from here. There’s nothing like flying into LGA or JFK at night and seeing the Statue all lit up, always brings tears to my eyes. (I remember flying home at night and seeing the WTC all lit up, too) : (

I’ll just take your word that it looks good there. I don’t think I’ll be driving 2,000 miles just to see it.

That’s amazing! What a beautiful location. I think it’s pretty cool that Ms. Mini-Liberty is out in the middle of the river with nothing around her. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful country, I love my country very very very much but I gotta say I think this looks kind of tacky where it is maybe they should have put it somewhere in town.
