The Complete Fibromyalgia Health, Diet Guide & Cookbook

Fibromyalgia affects 1 of 438,900 people in Canada and 1 of an estimated 5 million adults in the United States. In those statistics you can include myself and my mother.

The Complete Fibromyalgia Health, Diet Guide & Cookbook is a 288 page softcover book that has been written by leading experts on fibromyalgia. It gives common sense tools that will help patients help themselves on the road to improvement and perhaps recovery.

The goal of this book is to help patients improve their ability to function and to help improve their quality of life. This outstanding resource provides the necessary hope, support and resources for a condition that is often misunderstood, left undiagnosed and untreated.

Title: The Complete Fibromyalgia Health, Diet Guide & Cookbook
Authors: Dr. Louise S. McCrindle, ND and Dr. Alison C. Bested, MD
ISBN: 978-0-7788-0453-6
Publisher: Robert Rose Inc.

Talking Points:

* What is Fibromyalgia? What causes it? How do you know if you have it? How is it diagnosed?
* Managing Fibromyalgia: sleep, energy, exercise, environment, diet, support, medications, therapies, nutritional supplements and more.
* Dietary Therapy: menu planning, recipes, explaining  nutritional status, food basics, food allergies & intolerances, organic foods and more.
* While fibromyalgia cannot be “cured” with a single silver bullet, many people are able to improve their quality of life, and in some cases experience recovery.
* Plus more!!!

The Complete Fibromyalgia Health, Diet Guide & Cookbook

My Thoughts: I received my diagnosis of fibromyalgia about 8 years ago. With that said, I was not the first one diagnosed with it in my family, my mother was. Fibromyalgia has changed my life and not for the better. I have constant pain and at times the pain is so bad that I end up in the hospital. There are some things that I have found that seem to set it off and there are some things that seem to make me feel better. What works for me, doesn’t work for others.

My mother has it much worse than what I do. She has changed her diet, gets regular physical activity, tries homeopathic medications & therapies and all kinds of other things. Some of the things she has tried have helped and others have not. We are all different.

This book is really a comprehensive guide. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been diagnosed for years…you will definitely learn a few new things within the pages of this book. Right now I have been concentrating on improving my dietary habits and trying to eat more healthy (including organic and raw foods) and so forth. There are a ton of great recipes in this book. Last weekend we tried the Salmon Wraps recipe on page 226 and loved them! You only need 5 ingredients and within 20 minutes or so…we were enjoying them. The recipes come along with some great tips and they are all made from ingredients you can find at your local grocery stores.

One of my favorite chapters in this book was the Dietary Therapy chapter since that is what I have been concentrated on the past several weeks. This chapter gets really in-depth with teaching you about food basics, the dietary table, how to divide your plate and so forth. Even if you don’t suffer from Fibromyalgia and are just looking to eat healthier, this book can help you!

I am really impressed with this book and when I am done reading it…I will be passing it on to my mother. Matter of fact, she has been pestering me to hurry up and to get done with it! You can find this book and thousands of other great books by checking out Robert Rose online.

Oh this is helpful. I don’t have a recipe book for fibromyalgia, but just a manual type book. I pinned it to research later, I love raw foods so hopefully it won’t be too difficult of a transition.

I too have fibro, crippling pain filled fibro! Honestly I have never thought about trying to control my pain with diet. Some days it is all I can do to take my medications or get out of the bed. But I am more than ready to try! This book sounds really interesting and I will most def check it out! Thank you and I wish you and your mom the best.

This sounds like a book that can really help people with their dietary needs as well as people who suffer from fibromyalgia. I am glad that you have found it to be helpful and I hope it will continue to give you other ways in which to alleviate your pain.
