Good morning everyone! It’s Saturday November 30th which means…drum roll….the big holiday month is next! Who is ready for the holiday craziness to begin? Not Me!
Today’s Topic: When it comes to using up all of your Thanksgiving Day leftovers – that turkey – What kind of dishes do you make? I made some turkey chili yesterday and later today I will be making some homemade waffles, turkey and gravy. Yup, I dusted off my waffle iron last evening to get ready for today.
My mom is making pulled turkey sandwiches later today (just like bbq pulled pork but she uses turkey). So, how do you like to use up all of that turkey? If you have mashed potatoes leftover from your holiday meal you can make potato pancakes or potato bread.
If you have a lot of veggies leftover and on-hand you can toss them together to make a homemade vegetable soup, Shepard’s pie, veggie & meat pie or toss those veggies into an egg mixture to make an omelet the next day for breakfast.
You can do a LOT with leftover thanksgiving food! If you run out of ideas just remember this…Most of the food that you have leftover from your holiday dinner can be placed into the freezer (frozen) for later use! Don’t let it go to waste!

The only thing that I do with turkey leftovers is make sandwiches with cranberry sauce and mayo.
A belated congratulations to the 3 winners.
We usually eat turkey for 2 more day, sometimes in a noodle dish and then I freeze any leftover turkey to use in other recipes like pot pie or soup in the future.
I don’t eat turkey but I eat double portions of sweet potatoes. Love them and found a sale on Black Friday and stocked up. I’ll be eating them in every recipe variation possible! I cooked a lot over the weekend to use up everything too.
Congrats to the winners!
I live by myself and I just enjoy turkey sandwiches – either hot or cold. I freeze the turkey in sandwich bags.
We make the Texas Rhodes rolls. They get very big, and we use the leftovers for hot turkey sandwiches. Along with any leftover gravy. Eggs, stuffing, and turkey lasts for more than one meal, but we enjoy it. If we decide not to eat it there’s turkey pot pie, turkey stuffing bake, or just simply freezing it for a later date.
I just love the leftovers from Turkey day. I made a hot turkey sandwich with gravy and it was so good. You are giving me an idea, I am going to make pulled Turkey today! I am not looking forward to the Holiday season! To much to do!
My husband and I ate turkey again yesterday. The kids are sick of it and don’t want anymore.
