Good morning everyone! Happy hump day Wednesday! Wow, I don’t even want to talk about how my day is going so far today but I will say this, I have been up since 2am this morning and not a happy camper about that!
Today’s Topic: It’s a scientific fact that some people have a very high pain tolerance and others have a very low pain tolerance. For myself, I have a very low tolerance for any type of pain because I have had chronic pain since I was a toddler. My husband on the other hand has a very high threshold for pain…but is a baby when he gets sick (non-pain sicknesses). So, do you think you have a high or low pain tolerance?
We had a few giveaways close late last night so we do have winners to announce this morning. As always, we spend time every morning validating entries, trashing out the cheater entries and then randomly select a winner using random.org. We then double check that persons entry to make sure it’s legit and then finalize it.
Winners for Salba Chia Giveaway: Deb E., Cindy Merrill
Winners for Smart Bones Giveaway: friederike graedener, Susna
Congratulation to all 4 of our winners this morning!
I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain! I suffer from chronic pain as well. I hope you’re doing better lady
unfortunately i have a fairly low tolerance for pain. i have chronic neck and back pain and now have arthritis and bursitis. while i know that some of these things just come with aging, but my neck pain is the hardest for me to deal with. i have had one doctor say i needed surgery and one say that i did not. i guess if it continues to get worse i will get a third opinion. i am really sorry to hear that you have had to deal with pain all of your life! you have my sympathy! oh, and on another subject, congratulations to the winners of the giveaways!
I do not have a high tolerance to pain. It always makes me worried if I feel prolonged pain. I feel so much sympathy for my sister who is in chronic pain daily. She does what she can, and has a high tolerance to pain. Some people can tolerate pain more than others.
Do I have a strong pain tolerance? Yes and no. Depends on where the pain is, I guess. I had 30 hours of back labor, all unmedicated, no epidural, (not fun!), and was able to take it. On the other hand, if I get a toothache, I go running for pain pills ASAP. Strange, huh?
Nope not strange at all. I had a natural birth myself (baby was breech) and I had no pain killers at all. I was in labor for 21 hours and the baby ripped me front to back. I handled it. With that said, the worst pain is oral/dental pain for me as our mouth’s are loaded with nerves and pain receptors. Oral pain is also very hard to treat and for me, morphine doesn’t touch oral pain at all.
I have had Lupus/Arthritis for over 30 years which has meant a lot of pain. You’d think that after so long I would have built up a tolerance to some pain, but I haven’t. It seems that my pain threshold is getting lower as I get older. I can’t handle it like I use to. Sorry for your pain. I know it can be debilitating.
If high pain tolerance means I can stand strong pain, then that is me. Unlke you, an adulthood full of pain (migraines, herniated discs) makes any other pain “nothing” to me – burns, scratches, bumps, bruises, shots, blood being taken,….I don’t even twinge. This is not necessarily a good thing, however, as I have had really bad scratches (I care for a feral cat colony including TNRing – lots of my blood involved!) and haven’t had them seen by a doctor when they should have been stitched up. It also makes me less empathetic to others who complain about pain I wouldn’t even acknowledge, which can make me seem insensitive so I have to be careful (my tendency is to say “Suck it up and live with it!”)
Sorry about your sleepless night. It depends on the time of the month I’ve found. I usually try to tough it out but understand when others feel pain (I’m a nurse). I’m a chia winner too, yay! It’s one of my main protein sources so I can really use it.
Hope your day is going better by now. Sleepless nights can seem endless if you’re not feeling well or are having some pain.
Me, I’m a wussy. There are certain types of pain that I do not handle well at all, especially going to the dentist. It’s so bad that I’ve got a full-blown phobia about the dentist now. {{shudder}}
Congratulations to the 4 winners.
I am in between. I don’t have a low tolerance for pain, but I don’t have a high tolerance either. I just will try to take something to alleviate the pain, whether natural remedy or Ibuprofen type pill. However, if I am already feeling pain or sick then anything else added on top of that is very hard to tolerate.
I like to think that in general I have a pretty high pain tolerance if maybe I get hurt hikinh, biking, or camping. But, I guess I may be like your husband: if I am sick or have menstrual pains or stub my toe early in the morning (not a morning person) I am the biggest baby.
