Musselman’s Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute

November 5, 2013 by Shelly

On Sunday November 3rd, 2013 my husband and I took a road trip up to State College, Pennsylvania. We were very excited to be VIP guests at the Musselman’s Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute held at the Pegula Ice Arena in State College.

The Pegula Ice Arena is a brand new ice arena and sits right across the street from the Bryce Jordan Center and right down the street from the famous Beaver Stadium where Penn State plays their football games.

The show was themed all around family and featured well-known Olympic and national figure skating champions along with their children who were incorporated into some of their parent’s skating performances.

The musical artist for the show was country singer-songwriter, Sara Evans, mother of seven. My husband has been a huge fan of Sara Evans for the past few years and was pretty excited when Musselman’s invited us as their special VIP guests.

The special guest hosts for the family skating event were Kristi Yamaguchi and Michael Weiss. I have been a huge fan of professional ice skating for over 25 years and was super excited to see them both, along with the other skaters who were performing.

Skating Cast Included: Ekaterina Gordeeva, Ilia Kulik, Irina Slutskaya, Paul Wylie, Kurt Browning, Michael Weiss, Naomi Lang, Isabelle Brasseur & Rocky Marvel, Silvia Fontana and John Zimmerman. You can learn more by visiting the Disson Skating web site.

Musselman’s got us fabulous seats to the family skating event and we sat in the 5th row at center ice. Oh my gosh, I swear they were the perfect seats in the house and we were in the middle of all of the skating action.

My favorite skating performance of the night was by Kurt Browning and his children. He is fabulous at entertaining a crowd! Ekaterina Gordeeva is just beautiful to watch on the ice.

Country Music Star – Sara Evans

The entire arena was rocking out to the fabulous music by Sara Evans and hubby was pretty pleased to see one of his favorite country music performers perform live at the show. To be honest, I didn’t know who she was…he did, but now I am loving her music myself!

Hubby and I had a fabulous time and they announced during the show that Musselman’s will be sponsoring another one next year. You can bet your bottom dollar that hubby and I will be in attendance again next year!

The skating event was recorded and will air on NBC on Sunday, November 24th, 2013 at 4:00 – 6:00 PM EST. Mark your calendars now with that date and time as it is a show that you do NOT want to miss! Trust me when I say it was fabulous and you will want to see it!

We would like to thank Musselman’s for inviting us to the show as special VIP guests. We had a great time and plan on seeing it again next year!

Disclosure: Musselman’s sent us 2 complimentary VIP tickets to the Musselman’s Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute held in State College Pennsylvania.

Oh cool! I love pair ice skating and the dance routines. the last time I saw a show….I was sooo young and it was Peter Pan on ice. I remember the crocodile slithering on the ice ticking with a clock in his mouth.

I too enjoy watching figure skating so I shall try to see this show on NBC when it airs. You had so many big name stars in it I don’t see how it couldn’t have been fabulous. Kurt Browning is one of my favorite skaters because he also is a great entertainer.
