Volunteer Your Time to Worthy Causes

Good morning everyone! We are inching closer to the weekend. Thanks everyone who sent me Get Well Wishes yesterday. I read them all and they are appreciated. I just got back from a 6am doctor’s appointment this morning and we are going to change antibiotics and put me back on steroids to see if we can boost up my immune system. I feel TERRIBLE!!!

Today’s Topic: How many of our readers volunteer their time? Hubby and I are big on volunteering our time. We got into my great auntie’s nursing home & host parties for them, read books to them, build puzzles with them, etc. Every spring through fall my hubby mows the grass for an elderly man who lives down the street and this past summer I planted flowers for him. He was really appreciative of that. Hubby also donates blood every 2 months and my mother & I volunteer a few times a year at our local food bank. I believe it’s important to give back even if it’s just giving a little bit of your time.

We had a few giveaways close late last night so we do have winners to announce this morning. As always, we spend time every morning validating entries, trashing out the cheater entries and then randomly select a winner using random.org. We then double check that persons entry to make sure it’s legit and then finalize it.

Winner of Educational Insights Giveaway: carey p
Winner of I SEE ME Giveaway: Sherry Compton

Congratulations to our winners! How have you all been enjoying our 4th holiday gift guide so far? We got a LOT more in store for all of you!!!

I’m glad you found a doctor you like. That is really hard to do. My daughter is having trouble with that, and it is necessary for her to find one. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Take the weekend for you, and start it early if possible. 🙂

As for volunteering, God bless you for your helping nature! That is wonderful! My family is big on volunteering, donating, and helping out. We try to give back at Christmas but also throughout the year. I always took my kids to the Angel Tree at Christmas, and they would each pick and shop for a special child. We have continued and added to this. It is wonderful for all involved!

We volunteer also. I do a photoshoot every year for a calendar which raises money to by gifts for underprivileged children. We also donate toys and clothes and all year round when we go bike riding we pick up trash from the trails.

  4. I have volunteered for over 10 yrs with Soroptimist Int’l a business women service group. I really enjoy it. My son grew up with the idea of giving back and has worked countless hours with me when he was younger and then became involved in his own volunteer group – the local police cadets. He has over 1000 hrs in High School alone and over 2000 hrs since 6th grade.

I am sorry you feel terrible and am amazed at how much you get done when you feel sick. I didn’t realize that there were doctors who had 6 AM appointments, convenient for early risers and perhaps for patients before they go to work. I certainly hope you feel much better soon.
I don’t volunteer as much as I should. I help a neighbor and give clothing, etc to charity at least once a year.

    • I am very fortunate I see an oncologist/hematologist for my care and have seen her for 19 years. They start early due to giving patients chemo in-office early in the morning. I adore my doctor!
