Fall is a favorite time of year for me and one reason is because the apples are in harvest! If you are an apple lover, then you know that fresh, crisp apples make all of the difference in a recipe or to enjoy by themselves. Sipping on a refreshing apple sangria is a tasty and relaxing way to enjoy the fall harvest foods too. This delicious recipe was shared with us by our friends at Venetian Decor. For a seasonal favorite, intertwine a honey crisp apple sangria with a comforting fall meal.
HONEY CRISP APPLE SANGRIA Recipe
Ingredients:
· 2 honeycrisp apples
· 1 750-milliliter bottle un-oaked Chardonnay
· ½ cup peach schnapps
· ¼ cup orange blossom honey
· 2 oranges, 1 quartered
· 1 lemon, quartered
· 1 lime, quartered
· 2 cinnamon sticks
· 2 quarter-size slices of fresh ginger
· 3 whole cloves
· 2 tablespoons sugar
· ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
· Ice
· Club soda
Directions:
1. Peel, core and chop one of the apples.
2. In a bowl, combine the Chardonnay, schnapps and honey. Add the quartered orange, lemon, lime, cinnamon sticks, chopped apple, ginger and cloves and refrigerate overnight. (If you don’t want to wait that long at least give it 4 hours).
3. Strain the sangria into a pitcher. Peel, core and finely chop the remaining apple. Peel, section and chop the remaining orange. Mix the apple and orange in a bowl.
4. On a small plate, blend the sugar and cinnamon. Moisten the rims of wine glasses and dip in the cinnamon sugar to coat.
5. Fill the glasses with ice. Pour in the sangria until three-quarters full.
6. Top with a splash of club soda.
7. Garnish with a spoonful of the chopped apple and orange.
This sounds wonderful, I can almost hear the laughter and clinking of glasses from the great party this should be part of! I’ve actually never tried honeycrisp apples, this sounds like a great way to sample them!
Apples are definitely my favorite thing about autumn, and in fact, I’ve got a huge pot of apple butter simmering on the stove right now. I use apples in a lot of different ways, but I never would have thought to make an apple Sangria–what a great idea! Thanks for the recipe.
I enjoy a good Sangria and this seems to be a good recipe. I don’t know what “un-oaked” Chardonnay means – not standing in oak barrels? and why would that make a difference? I might also try the recipe with apple brandy.
Had to pin this recipe – seems like something I would love to try in the near future.
I will definately have to try this. I love a good Sangria, I may consume more fruits through Sangrias than any other way ( just not much of a fruit eater). Wonder if you could make this with red wine. Thank you for the recipe.
I love a good homemade sangria, and this one looks delicious! I’ll be making this for my next holiday party. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I have never tried this and have always wanted to. I think I will try this one this year thanks for posting the recipe and sharing this great post. Have a great day.
I have a friend who would love this! I’ll pass the recipe on. THanks.
