Gluten Free Cookies from Dr. Lucy’s

Gluten Free Cookies from Dr. Lucy's

** Complimentary Products Sent for Review **

How many of you have heard of the company called Dr. Lucy’s before? Personally, I had never heard of this company until asked to do a review. Lucy’s is a brand of vegan, gluten-free and allergen-friendly cookies that are perfect for those many nut-free school zones that have been popping up across the country.

The cookies and brownies are made with a garbanzo bean base giving an extra boost of protein. They come in delicious Snack ‘n Go packs and holiday flavors, too! They are all natural, GMO free, gluten free, vegan, contain no trans fat and no cholesterol. They contain no peanuts, tree nuts, milk or eggs.

The company sent me 3 complimentary boxes of the gluten free cookies. I received a box of the Sugar Cookies, a box of the Ginger Snaps and a box of Chocolate Chip Cookies to review for all of you.

I first want to say that if you are looking for a chewy and gooey type of cookie…these cookies are not for you. They are firm cookies (not rock hard, but definitely firm). As someone who is deathly allergic to tree nuts, I always appreciate finding foodie products that don’t contain them.

Caloric wise…not bad. A serving size is 3 cookies and they range from 120 to 130 calories per serving. Each 5.5 oz. box contains approximately 5 servings. I love the smaller size of these cookies because it made them nice to pack in my hubby’s lunch. I just placed 3 or 4 cookies in one of those smaller snack sized bags and tossed them into his lunch box.

Now to be honest with you, I have TMJ so I have to be careful of “harder” foodie items due to that. For me, I enjoyed the cookies dunked in my hot cocoa or hot coffee. Out of the three flavors I really loved the Sugar Cookies. My hubby who has no chewing or jaw problems really loved the Ginger Snaps with the Chocolate Chip Cookies coming in a close second. He enjoyed them as an afternoon snack to tied him over until he got home for dinner.

Taste wise…they tasted great! You would of never guessed they were gluten free, nut free, milk free and egg free. I like the size of the cookies and their taste. I just wish they would of been a tad softer so that I wouldn’t have needed to dunk them into a liquid (milk, coffee or hot cocoa). If you are a normal person like hubby, that shouldn’t bother you at all but if you have any type of jaw or chewing issues, they might. Overall, I am giving them an 8 out of 10 on my foodie rating scale.

Head on over to Dr. Lucy’s web site and take a look around. The company also sells gluten free brownies and during the holiday season you can pick up a few of their holiday flavors like chocolate mint cookies. You can join Dr. Lucy’s on Facebook too.
