Energizer Safety Kit – Smoke Alarm & Carbon Monoxide Detector

October 24, 2013 by Shelly

energizer safety kit

This year is really flying by and many of us will be changing our clocks  back from Daylight Saving Time in just a few short weeks on November 3rd.  It’s also that time of year when Energizer, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and fire departments nationwide join forces for the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® program to raise awareness of the importance of working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in helping to keep families safe in their homes. This is the 26th year for the annual program and the message is still an important one.

Did you know, thirty-eight percent of fatal fire injuries occur in homes with no smoke alarms, while 24 percent occur in homes in which at least one smoke alarm is present but fails to operate, frequently due to dead or missing batteries.* Those are statistics that we can all change for the better!

This year we want to remind all of our readers that they need to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors when changing their clocks. If you happen to live in an area that doesn’t practice Daylight Savings Time…now is the time to do it! Make sure you remind all of your friends, family members and neighbors to do it too!

The great folks over at Energizer sent us one of their Safety Kits to review for all of you. This kit included a Talking Alarm combination smoke, fire and carbon monoxide alarm detector by Kidde, an Energizer LED Safety Light (flashlight) and multiple packs of batteries.

smoke alarm

Hubby and I moved into our new home back in January and haven’t replaced the home’s old smoke detectors until now (thank you Energizer). As soon as we received the kit, hubby read over the instructions for The Talking Alarm (Smoke, Fire & Carbon Monoxide Detector) and got it installed. It only took him 3 minutes to install it on the ceiling in our main hallway right outside the bedroom doors.

This is a talking alarm and you can test it out and hear all of the warnings which come across in a loud & extremely clear voice. We had no problems understanding what it was saying and it will identify the emergency as it detects it. I really like that it talks to you!

Energizer LED Safety Flashilight

The Energizer LED Safety Light is a flashlight with a bright LED light (17 Lumens). This safety light will run on AAA, AA or C batteries. Yes, that’s right, it will run on any of those three which is really cool. One day you might have AA batteries on hand and a few weeks from now when those batteries are done for, you might only have C batteries on hand. In addition, the safety light has a built-in alert whistle on the carrying strap. If you need to call for help, blow the whistle and another member in your household will hear you.

I have always loved the Energizer brand of products and have been buying them for years! It’s a brand that makes quality products at affordable prices. This holiday season when you need a great gift that can perhaps save a life, this set of items would make the perfect gift to give!

The external tablet battery seems very useful during power outages.

Change the batteries in your flashlights at the same time as you change the batteries in the smoke detector and the Carbon detector.

Energizer has a lot of nice products, and one we could use is the Energizer Folding Lantern with Light Fusion Technology. It would be great to keep stashed away in case of power failure, which we have a lot more often than seems normal.

I like one of Energizer’s new products called the Energizer® Folding Lantern with Light Fusion Technology. This lantern really lights up and is an LED light.

I would love to try the talking alarm~ alot of time you dont know when a beeping goes off , which emergency it is. Smoke dectors are so important, expecially in our home we have 17 rooms =) . I do agree with the webpage, that since we turn our clocks backs and we gain a hour, why not use that extra hour to go over and review our home fire safty plans~ Its always good to be prepared and it could save your life.

I want carbon monoxide detectors and I really want a generator! We just moved to WV, and it snows tons and apparently they lose power quite often in the winter :/ this momma doesn’t do well with cold…I want to at least be able to power a space heater so we can camp out in one room and stay warm!

I like the fire safety activities for kids and the safety tips reminded me that my fire extinguisher is old and needs to be checked out.
