As you may know, Day of the Dead (November 2nd) is a traditional holiday in Mexico where people gather to pray for and remember deceased friends and family members. Below please find a recipe of a traditional beverage by NESCAFÉ Café de Olla and NESTLÉ Abuelita, brands that have been part of this celebration for many years.
The recipe is so delicious that the spirits of your loved ones won’t be able to resist coming back from the dead for a taste!
Now that Fall has officially gotten here, I love sipping on gourmet hot beverages, don’t you? This looks super yummy!

love to try this
This recipe got me curious, so I looked up Nescafé Café de Olla and found that it’s coffee blended with cinnamon and sugar. I love hot drinks, especially as the weather turns colder. I like the sound of this coffee drink and think I could recreate it even without the Nescafé product. With the flavors of the vanilla and cinnamon and the richness of the thickened milk, it sounds delicious. Thanks!
I was just thinking about hot chocolate today. We even bought some peppermint syrup to add. This sounds good, too. A drink to warm you up and satisfy. Plus, it’s a nice base for you to add flavorings or spices. I may need to try it out before Day of the Dead! 🙂
This sounds interesting! I’ll have to try it instead of my mid morning coffee one day.
I really enjoy drinking coffee, but this puts a twist on it! Got Tot try this! Thanks!!
Yum! I love coffee and this sounds like a delicious drink!
This drink sounds so delicious. I would like to try it and see how it tastes. I like that it is not to hard to make and that it is a hot drink. I really like this recipe!
This looks so good but I don’t remember ever seeing NESCAFÉ Café de Olla in the store – I guess I need to look harder in the Mexican foods section of a larger supermarket.
Interesting…never saw a recipe like this that included cornstarch…I love coffee/hot cocoa drinks.
I will definately have to try this recipe. Might also add some cocoa and make this with soy milk since I am mildly lactose intolerant. Thanks for sharing
I did not know that November 2nd was the day of the dead in Mexico. I guess you learn something new everyday. This drink does look tasty and I would love to try it thank you for posting this one and the recipe and have a great day.
I wouldn’t have thought to add cornstarch, either. I want more chocolate too.
Although I have drunk this beverage I never realized that cornstarch was used to thicken it. Now I can try out the recipe for myself. However , since I am a chocoholic I shall also add some cocoa to it.
