Winter Home Prep – Time for Duct Cleaning

It’s hard to believe but Summer is almost over and before we know it Winter will be here. Now is the time for all of us to starting thinking about all of those important things in and around our home that we must get done before Winter arrives.

Last night hubby and I made a massive list of everything we need to do to get ready for Winter and one of the things on our list is duct cleaning. That’s right, having our heating ducts cleaned out and ready to go for the winter heating season.

Winter Season

It doesn’t matter if you are looking for heating in Hamilton or heating in Harrisburg, it is something that most home owners need to do. Luckily for us, we have several reputable companies nearby that offer these types of services at an affordable price.

After we get that done, we want to get our chimney cleaned, oil tank filled and hopefully get our furnace serviced too! If we still have money left, we are thinking about purchasing a few new storm windows for the living room and family room as those two rooms are awful drafty during the wintertime season.

How many of you have started your winter preparations already? Around here in the north east, most of us start thinking about this in September and then we get to work on it in early October.

This year we are hoping to be done with all of our winter prep chores before November 1st because we want to relax and enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

  1. I also need to prepare in Tallahassee, FL. I need to get my ducts cleaned too to avoid colds/viruses.

To be honest, I hadn’t thought about Fall/Winter until I got up this morning and needed a heavier robe. It is about 60 degrees and a high of only 72 after being 90 yesterday. I am embarrassed to say that we have never had the ducts cleaned in our home. I hadn’t thought about it until now, but it is something that we should and will have done. Thanks for the “winter” inspiration!

I haven’t started any of this yet, but I am planning to set up service appointments in the next couple of weeks.

Haven’t started on any of it yet, but they did bring me my first delivery of propane for the fall/winter season….
