DIY House Painting is a LOT of Hard Work

September 9, 2013 by Shelly

Good morning everyone! How was your weekend? Did you go out and do anything fun or exciting? We got back into town early on Sunday morning and we are now going to enjoy a few days at home as a “Staycation”.

Up on our agenda this week is house painting! We are going shopping for house paint later today as we want to repaint our house siding and change colors. We are leaning towards a medium sand/beige color and then doing the woodwork around the windows in white and the shutters either an olive green or a matte burgundy. Sigh…I need to decide but I guess I will do that once we arrive at the paint store.

Our question today is this…do you like to do house painting? If you could change the color of your house (the outside) what color would you change it to? Do you consider yourself a good painter or do you hire out for work like that?

We had a few giveaways close late last night so we do have winners to announce this morning. As always, we spend time every morning validating entries, trashing out the cheater entries and then randomly select a winner using random.org. We then double check that persons entry to make sure it’s legit and then finalize it.

Winner for the Umi Shoes GC is… Sherry Compton
Winner for the Colgate Toothbrushes is… michelle boor

Congratulations to both of our winners this morning! Enjoy your Monday!

We hired out to do our vinyl siding for the house. It is a blue/grey and I like it. Love the idea of your sandy color with the burgundy shutters. Our neighbors have a brown with a red door, and it really makes it pop.

Most of the time, we do the work ourselves. Painting inside is something my daughter enjoys and takes on. A couple years ago, I went away to visit my grandkids. When I returned my daughter had repainted our living room, entry, and hall in a brown that we had been looking at. I was happily shocked. Our project now is to do siding on our barn, and my husband wants to do that ourselves. Good luck to you. You will feel a lot better when it’s over and your home is fresh and new looking.

We did our living room last Fall in a mocha brown and I love it! I did our master bedroom in a camel color with white trim to go with our coastal theme and our entryway, kitchen and hallway are done in a butter cream.

He started painting today…will take a few weeks but once it is done I will show you all before & after photos!

Our house is vinyl siding (light yellow), but I would love to change it to something else… maybe some shade of tan?

    Congratulations to the 2 winners.
We would hire out for house painting. As to the color olive green would blend in with the plants while burgundy would stand out more and perhaps be more festive.
