I love Yoga and have been doing Yoga on and off for the past 5 years. Back in April I had a total hip replacement and haven’t been able to do normal fitness routines or Yoga. However, I can now work on getting back into shape thanks to this fitness DVD by Valerie Rogers called ChogaFlow ~ a unique chair yoga practice all on a handy dandy DVD that I can play at home.
Did you know that practicing Yoga can reverse the affects of aging? It can also help to restore vitality, rejuvenate the nervous system, strengthen the body and calm your mind. These are all things I need!
DVD Info: Valerie Rogers is the creator of ChogaFlow, a unique chair yoga practice, done both seated and standing, integrating breath with movement. Chogaflow is ideal if you are new to practicing yoga, if physical illness prevents you from getting up and down from the floor easily, if you are recovering from an injury or illness, or if you prefer a less strenuous class. Chogaflow emphasizes alignment, allowing you to explore poses in an anatomically correct way. You will enjoy the many benefits of a traditional yoga practice without ever having your knees touch the floor.
My Thoughts: As you all know…I had a total hip replacement back in late April of this year. I have really missed doing my yoga workouts but with the new hip, I haven’t been able to do most things that I have enjoyed in the past. I have been looking around at some chair exercise DVDs and came across this Chogaflow one that is for those of us who love yoga or want to learn some yoga.
Valerie Rogers walks you through the entire yoga practice which is done while sitting in a chair or standing up and using the chair for support. This is perfect for people like me who recently had a joint replacement. While working out with the DVD I didn’t feel rushed at all and all of the moves are really easy to do. I love Valerie’s voice on this DVD which is really soothing & relaxing.
For the past 2 weeks or so…I have been using this DVD about 3 times a week. As I get stronger, I am hoping to do it daily and then hopefully moving back into regular yoga as my body heals. The only 2 items you need for this yoga practice is a yoga mat and a sturdy chair to support your body weight.
I am enjoying this DVD by Valerie Rogers and I am very grateful that she made a yoga DVD for those of us who can’t do traditional yoga right now. I give the DVD 9 stars out of 10 stars on my rating scale. Total run time on the DVD is 55 minutes.

They allow you to practice yoga without your knees ever touching the floor. That’s great! I have surgery coming up and really don’t feel like sitting around doing nothing after. This will work!
I like that this is a calming video.
i’ve never done seated yoga but enjoyed learning about the benefits online
I learned that Valerie has a unique, fun, eclectic teaching style which she developed from years of studying various styles of yoga.
I recently started doing yoga, but find some of the poses too difficult to do right now (I’m up for knee surgery next year, and things should be easier after I heal from that!) Since this is also targeted at people recovering from injury or illness, I should be able to keep doing it even while recovering from the surgery!
It calms the mind.

I have a bad lower back and found out this is still possbile for me to use
I have real problems getting up and down from the floor so most of the exercises like this are out of the question with my back and knees – but this looks doable 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I like that the DVD is also available as a download, downloads being way more environmentally friendly than a DVD. I also learned that Chogaflow emphasizes alignment. Thanks for the giveaway.

I learned that yoga has many health and aging benefits and this chair yoga can be used by those of us with knee issues.
This style of yoga seems to be designed for those like me who cannot get up and down off the floor with ease. I am afraid to get on the floor as I may not be able to get back up without assistance. Thank you for this opportunity.
I learned the DVD is less than $20 which is reasonable considering the high cost of health care!
I learned this method does not require that knees touch the floor. There are many Sundays when my knees do not let me kneel at church. This is would be a wonderful opportunity. I know of others who simply cannot and will not be able to balance without a stable support like the chair.
I liked the testimonials.
I learned it’s possible to do yoga using a chair. The instructor teaches a variety of styles of yoga instead of specializing in one kind ,which is good.

Her video was recently reviewed in Prevention Magazine. I think this would be really good for my daughter as she continues her recovery from being sick.
Valerie gives a simple explanation of each pose and she has another person demonstrate a modification of the pose at the same time, providing an important other option for her viewing students.
I learned and like that her yoga is done using a chair and she has great pictures on her site of poses and she has a special poses for seniors.
I like that your knees never have to touch the floor…. I have severe arthritis in my left knee, so getting up and down is painful at best, but putting pressure on that knee will shoot my pain levels up to 10 immediately 🙁
