Did you know that 80-90% of SIDS-related deaths are due to unsafe sleep practices? During the month of September & October, HALO will donate $1 to SIDS Awareness for every new Facebook “Like”. Help us spread the word about safe sleep practices and share this post with your friends and family.

Tips for Safe Sleep Practices
ALWAYS
  • Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.
  • Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snuggly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
  • Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.
  • Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.
  • Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.

NEVER
  • Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface
  • Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.

HALO Innovations recently launched the new Micro-Fleece SleepSack designs which are available at Target and Amazon.com. HALO Innovations are the originators of the original wearable blanket.

As you all know, we are expecting a new baby boy in our family and that precious bundle of joy is expected to arrive around the first of the year. We are super excited and looking forward to his arrival.

The great folks over at HALO Innovations sent us one of their new HALO SleepSack in Micro-Fleece with the Rocket design to review for all of you. Using a wearable SleepSack is a great way to replace loose blankets in the crib and they help to keep your baby safe.

The HALO SleepSack features a “back is best” emblem which reminds all caregivers to put babies to sleep on their backs. The sleeveless design helps to reduce the risk of overheating and the roomy sack design can’t be kicked off. The inverted zipper allows for easy access when it comes time to change your baby’s diaper which is a real blessing to caregivers, especially in the middle of the night.

The HALO SleepSack design is approved as “Hip Healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and is machine wash & tumble dry. As your child grows, you can get additional sizes, designs and styles to accommodate his/her needs which I think is a fabulous thing!

This HALO SleepSack is super soft and very well designed! I know this SleepSack is going to get a lot of use when the baby arrives and we are really looking forward to using it. It is so soft that I wish I had some adult pajamas made out of this micro-fleece just for me!
