Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Educational Insights based out of Southern California. Educational Insights is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Their products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that children love to learn when you make that learning experience fun!
For our review we were sent the Nancy B’s Science Club ~ Binoculars & Wildlife Activity Journal to review for all of you. This fun and educational set is made for children ages 8 and up. The set comes with 4X binoculars with compass and a 22 page journal with nature activities including a bird find-it challenge.
Now your kids can get 4X closer to nature! The binoculars feature a built-in compass and 4x magnification that help you explore the plants, birds and animals around you. The activity journal includes 22 pages of scientific activities, including bird-watching exercises, plant and animal observation and tracking, drawing, creative writing, find-it challenges and more!
The binoculars feature a rubber body trim for non-slip grip, 4X magnification 30mm optics, fast & accurate center focusing knob, built-in compass and rubber eye cups for comfort & protection.
Our Thoughts: I knew when this set arrived that it would be a big hit with my grand daughter and god son who are ages 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 years old. Even though this set is for kids ages 8 and up…it can certainly be used with the younger children with an adult’s supervision and help.
We love the purple, white and green colored binoculars which are perfectly sized for little one’s hands. We spent about 10 minutes showing both of the kids how to operate the new binoculars and after that…they were going all through our back yard studying things.
They looked closely at two ladybugs that they found, a monarch butterfly that sat completely still for them for several minutes on one of my flower bushes, studied a worm (that grossed me out) and finally they spotted a cardinal up in the tree & studied that.
Once we were done…we wrote in the activity journal what we saw and the kids reactions to it. Since receiving this set…we have used it several times & they love it! They like to go out into the backyard and go on a hunt for things to see which I am pretty happy about that as I would rather them do activities like this than sit in front of a TV all day long! A huge 2-thumbs up from me!
