Maintain Healthy Feet With SteriShoe Shoe Sanitizer

September 9, 2013 by Classystaff

Living in warm weather live we get on the West Coast has its pluses and minuses. The pluses, of course, is the usually temperate temperatures and great climate. You can go a few hours north, south, east or west and find a different climate, warmer or colder. That is a huge plus. The minus is that when it is hot, it is hot for a long time. I have been so used to wearing thongs aka flip flops that when I have to wear regular shoes, I really struggle. That is especially true in summer when wearing nylons is just not happening. I have found thinner socks like trouser socks that can help, but I hate them. But in leather shoes, not having socks is really bad for your feet. You are more prone to toenail fungus, athlete’s foot, or smelly feet and shoes. Yuck. Now there is a product that can help with ridding bacteria in those hot, sweaty shoes. It is called SteriShoe shoe sanitizer and I was pleased to be able to review a unit for you all today.
SteriShoe Shoe Sanitizer
The SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer is a unit that slides into your shoes and uses a ultraviolet light to kill 99.9% of the germs that cause foot infections. It is very beneficial for diabetics, since it is important for them to maintain healthy feet. The SteriShoe® UV shoe sanitizer is the only product that safely and effectively sanitizes the inside of shoes. It has a Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association and has a clinical study that supports its effectiveness that was published in The Journal of American Podiatric Medical Association. Hundreds of podiatrists worldwide recommend it for their patients. And the best part is it is 100% chemical free.

I was a bit intrigued about this unit. It looks like shoe trees or a shoe stretcher. It comes with 2 sterilizers, one for each shoe. It basically slides into your shoes, you seal the shoe and the unit into a bag. You then plug in it the wall and turn on the unit. The ultraviolet light works to sanitize the shoes. It takes about 45 minutes and the unit will shut itself off. Very simple and very effective.
SteriShoe Shoe Sanitizer
I have 2 pair of clogs that I wear on a regular basis when I have to wear shoes so I know those get a real workout when it comes to cleanliness. I tried out the unit on both pairs of those shoes and it is so simple to use. The only thing you see working is the light but knowing that it is killing yucky bacteria that could be harboring in your shoes is good enough for me! I dug out my tennis shoes too and got them sterilized so they are ready to go when the weather gets cooler. This is super easy to use every day so you know your feet will stay healthy.

Here is an interesting foot fact: 35 million Americans have toenail fungus and many of them spend hundreds of dollars on laser treatment. Then they continue to put their feet in their shoes without sanitizing them. That can lead to re-infection. The dark, damp environment of shoes provides a breeding ground for microorganisms to thrive. By using the SteriShoe® UV shoe sanitizer, people can effectively kill the bacteria in their shoes and be able to maintain healthy feet. Sounds like a great idea to me!

When you order a unit you do have to state the shoe size and whether the unit will be for a man shoe or a women’s shoe. I do wish that one unit would work on any size shoe so that I could use this on my sons shoes too. He wears a much larger shoe than I do and they would not fit in the bag and properly close for the unit to work. Bummer. I think that would be ideal for families. Maybe that would be their next version! But for those people that wear work boots or enclosed shoes day after day, this would be an awesome item to use, for certain!
