Do Your Part at Keeping Our Coastal Areas and Beaches Clean
Our family spends a lot of time at the beach. When we’re there we try to volunteer our time to various projects and groups that help to clean-up the coastal areas. They’re always looking for volunteers and you don’t need to live there to help! Visitors can get involved and give up an hour or two of their vacation to participate in a local clean-up or conservation project.
Don’t have time to get involved while visiting? Here’s a few things you can do on your own.
1. Beach Walks – Every time you take a walk on the beach take a trash bag along with you. Pick up trash, broken glass, fishing hooks, straws, food containers, toys, etc. anything left there that doesn’t belong needs to be removed.
2. Parks – If you’re visiting a local park or just walking the dog…take a little trash bag along with you. Pick up any cups, cans, bottles, paper trash, etc. that you see lying around while taking your walk. Every little bit of clean-up HELPS the local community.
3. Donate – Don’t want to take the time out of your busy schedule? Consider donating money to a reputable group who’s working on conservation projects around the area. Your donation can be in any amount…even $25 will help.
4. Be Respectful – Don’t be a part of the problem! When visiting a coastal area…clean-up after yourself! Don’t let things behind! Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean that common courtesy should be tossed out of the window.
