If you have been around this blog for a while, I am sure you have met my Louie. It is no secret that he is a big lover of treats! Buying the healthy treat at the store can be really expensive so finding a tasty recipe that you can make at home for your dog is a special find. The folks at Venetian Decor were kind enough to share this great recipe with us and we are happy to share it! It sounds good – even for people!
PEANUT BUTTER & PUMPKIN DOGGIE TREATS:
Ingredients:
· 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
· 2 eggs
· ½ cup canned pumpkin
· 2 tablespoons peanut butter
· ½ teaspoon salt
· ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*.
Whisk the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough more easily workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.
Roll the dough into a ½ inch-thick roll. Cut into ½ inch pieces.
Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

I know dogs liked peanut butter but I never knew they would eat pumpkin. I will have to make some of these with my pumpkin for my sons Husky. thanks
I make doggie treats for Christmas for family dogs. Thank you for sharing.
I used to bake dog treats for my little Yorkie but never thought of using pumpkin. He ate anything so he’d probably go for that. I still use the dog bone cutters for baking!
I like to make doggie treats for a pal’s pooch, this is a great one! I have cookie cutters specially for doggie treats!
Simple with good ingredients. That’s my kind of treat! Even if it is for dogs. Have to find a pumpkin & peanut butter cookie recipe (for people)
My Zuzu loves peanut butter and I know that pumpkin is good for dogs. I love that there are so few ingredients and it is easy to make! I can handle this one! Thanks for sharing.
Our vet has been telling us for awhile how wonderful canned pumpkin is for dogs, and our little girl loves it. It really is a healthy treat for her or a topping for her food. This recipe puts and easy fun spin on it, and adding the peanut butter has more benefits. I have to say I’m tempted to eat it, too. Happy eating, Louie!
I didn’t realize that cinnamon was good for dogs too. This is a great recipe and with some baking powder and sugar or Truvia you could make it for yourself too
AWesome, did you try one? They sound good! At least good for Louie!! Thanks for sharing!
