We have computer software,my son is only allowed on certain sites, he uses my email address and my daughter is not allowed on the internet until she is 13 other than at school.
I monitor what they do and they are not allowed to talk to anyone they don’t know, even if that person says they know them.

They are told never to download anything and if something pops up that they don’t recognize to come find me. I also monitor the content that they view.
I like the pop ups and spam video!
always have the monitor positioned so you can see it if you walk by.
The computer is in a family area so we can monitor easier.

Use filters & keep the computer in a public area of the house.
My kids are young enough that they never get on the internet alone. Maybe, that’s the best tip.

While I think the privacy with Dustin Sieber is funny; the pop ups and spam is one we don’t always think to talk about. Adults sometimes make this mistake too.
My grand kids have a specific login that they can get on with where their mom has to approve all the sites and downloads. There are many applications out there now to password protect your children. Make sure that the communication about being safe is open. Sometimes it is a good idea to come up with a contract for both of you.
Privacy
I have an ad-blocker installed and have tried to teach them not to click on random links.
She uses her computer in the kitchen or on my desk in full view of me. We discuss what she surfs and what we don’t want her too.
