Several months ago, my family and I went to San Francisco for a long weekend. We met my husband’s best friend there along with their family. We had such a wonderful time! We played tourist and saw tons of neat things that we do not normally see on our ventures to the City. I finally got around to downloading my big camera the other day and I found all of my pictures from that trip (and others) and there are a few that I really want to share with you.
This picture is underneath the Golden Gate Bridge at the infamous Fort Point. This fort had been defending the shores of San Francisco since 1853. It is the only brick fort west of the Mississippi and its brick shoreline has been undamaged for over 160 years. I have a really cool picture of the lights that guided the ships, but I really wanted to show off the beautiful Golden Gate at a different angle for you.
Have you ever been to San Francisco? What is your favorite place in the city?
It’s amazing what treasures you will find in your city that you didn’t even know were there. I love the Off the Beaten Path books that give you unusual places to see. Look up unique attractions, the best burger…for you city and take a weekend to go visit. I think it’s great that you got this chance. A friend went to California a long time ago and brought back a photo of the Full House row of houses for my daughter. She loved it!
Great post there is so much to see in San Francisco but I sure wouldn’t want to live there. I do the love the warf and all the little shops, and the acatraz tour was interesting.
It’s been so long and all I can remember in the motel was tiny and cute! I was in town for a convention so didn’t get to see much of the city. Must go back since it’s been a few decades!
I love San Francisco – my favorite place is AT&T Park – going to a baseball game there is awesome.
I have only been to San Francisco once when I was a child and what I remember most are the hills and cable cars. This is beautiful photo of the bridge and I eagerly await your other shots.
I have been right where you took the picture from. I’ve only been there once, many years ago. I remember the big park and riding the cable cars down to the pier and eating fresh shrimp.
I never got to travel much in my time. I like to see pictures and read info about other places . Would like to see the Golden Gate bridge and this brick fort. Interesting. thanks sfor the info and pictures
I absolutely love San Fran! I am from there so I have family I can stay with when I visit.
