Our New Outdoor Water Fountain and DIY Project

August 14, 2013 by Shelly

Good morning everyone! Happy Hump Day! Today I wanted to show you all something and tell you about it. I am so proud of my hubby!

Our neighbors sold their house & moved out last year. They had this bird bath combination water fountain out in the backyard that was 26 years old. It was cracked in several places, the finish worn off & chipping and one of the legs on it was broken. It looked terrible and they were going to haul it off to the city dump. Seriously, I wouldn’t of paid $5.00 for the thing.

Our New Outdoor Water Fountain and DIY Project

However, hubby saw the potential and he rescued it from them for FREE. It is super heavy and weighs over 70 lbs. He went out and bought plaster of paris, caulk, cement glue, 5 spray cans of an outdoor paint that looks like gray granite and some other things. He spent $60 including a new air pump and filter. He then spent 4 weeks restoring & refinishing the bird bath/water fountain. It’s beautiful now!

It took 3 guys to move it from the garage out to the front yard and into one of my flower beds. I love it and it works well with my coastal landscaping that we are still working on. I love that the bowl portion reminds me a large seashell. Isn’t it pretty? I am so proud of hubby so I had to brag on him today!

We had a few giveaways close late last night so we do have winners to announce this morning. As always, we spend time every morning validating entries, trashing out the cheater entries and then randomly select a winner using random.org. We then double check that persons entry to make sure it’s legit and then finalize it.

Winner for the Laura Tarbell Fitness DVDs is… Heather (Paddy)
Winner for the online gym membership is… Carla S.

Congratulations to both of our lucky winners this morning!!! Both winners have been contacted via email and have 48 hours to respond before new winners will be chosen. Thanks & have a great Wednesday!

It’s beautiful! I have to admit I’m a little jealous. I want one of these beautiful bird baths for my front yard, but they are extremely expensive. I’m glad he saw the potential and rescued it. I’m sure it is an amazing addition to your yard. Brag on your bird bath and your husband often.

It’s beautiful!! I wouldn’t think it would be something you could repair but he did an amazing job! I have 2 bird baths in my yard but have always wanted a fountain : )

I’m not sure if we have one. I will ask hubby if he took one when he gets home this evening. It really did look like a piece of 26 year old crap before he revamped it.

    Congratulations to the 2 winners.
The water fountain looks new. You are absolutely right to brag about the job your husband did, especially with the amazing results. It also fits in nicely with your coastal theme .
