Oatmeal Chia Seed Pancakes Recipe

We all know how hard it is to eat healthier on a daily basis. Most people I know struggle with the last 10 lbs or have been ill and want to boost their immune system for extra added health benefit. My family is no different. My hubby and I both need to lose a chunk of weight and it would not hurt my son to lose about 10 lbs himself. So we have been on a quest to add healthier options to our menu. Just yesterday, we hit the farmers market and loaded up on fresh veggies, prepped them for snacking and meals, plus froze a bunch too. Not only did we save a bundle of cash, we have go to items that are ready to eat.

For several months I have been sharing with you about Chia and the benefits of using it through our Salba reviews and giveaways. Today we are talking about fiber. Fiber is huge when it comes to weight loss as it fills you up and helps curb hunger pains. One of the easiest ways to add fiber to your diet is with chia seeds. Here is what experts are saying about Salba Chia Seeds for weight loss:

Diets are a bore. Most are sabotaged by hunger pangs, while others lack good nutrition. There’s no quick fix for weight loss, but dieticians are now widely recommending chia as a versatile ingredient that can boost nutritional value while increasing satiety. Experts like Dr. Oz recommend chia seeds as a healthy way to manage appetite. Men’s Fitness says of chia: “Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, soluble fiber, and even a little bit of protein, these tiny seeds can elevate just about any meal or snack to a nutritional powerhouse.” And ‘Biggest Loser’ star, Rachel Beller, MS, RD, goes further, noting that Salba Chia is, “My absolute, ultimate, favorite fiber, antioxidant and omega-3 booster!” Here’s why Salba chia is a dieter’s new ally:

Boosts Nutrition: Salba chia is the richest whole food source of Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) and fiber found in nature on a gram for gram basis. Every 15g serving of Salba provides over 3,400 mg of Omega-3s (ALA) – 800% more Omega-3 (ALA) than salmon (EPA/DHA). Salba has less than 1 g net carbohydrate per serving.

Curbs Appetite: Each serving contains 5.1g of dietary fiber to support healthy digestion and increase satiety, which can help to ward of cravings and sugar crashes. Salba chia seeds absorb many times their weight in water, which helps to slow digestion and leave you feeling fuller for longer.

Ever since I have gotten hooked up the Salba Chia as a brand ambassador, I have been using Chia more and more. I add the ground to my morning shake for a simple boost that takes my hunger pains to zero. I can go more that 4 hours if I need to before eating again. Chia is easy to add to homemade muffins, egg dishes, or anything you prepare becasue it is available in ground and whole seed. It is a dieter’s best friend.

The folks at Salba Smart sent along a copy of ‘Biggest Loser’ star, Rachel Beller’s new book called Eat to Lose, Eat to Win and I have to say this is one of the best books I have read on HOW to incorporate healthy food choices into your meals super easy. She has awesome pictures of what type of foods to eat so if you want to grab some nuts for a snack, for example, she shows exactly how many equal a serving. She shows pictures of what to pack for on the go meals that can be made ahead quickly so you have no reason to stop for the “lite” muffin and soy drink to go that is really loaded with calories and fats. She also has pictures of what to look for when shopping so you buy the products that are right for you to help you get healthy.

Also included are some great ways to use Chia in your foods. The author recognizes how wonderful chia is for weight loss help and includes some tips for using it.

I gave this book to my hubby to read – it goes very fast is it is loaded with pictures and how to’s – and we are going to be using her tips as the basis to our new food choices. I think together we can make a difference and maybe even a bit of competition wouldn’t be bad either! Adding fiber with Salba Chia is the first step and expanding the usage in many of our meals will be a simple task. I am all for healthier and easy choices when it comes to food!
