First-Ever Barbie Be Anything, Do Everything Girl Scouts Patch

August 27, 2013 by Shelly

First-Ever Barbie “Be Anything, Do Everything” Girl Scouts PatchI am a big supporter of the Girl Scouts organization and when I was a child…I was a scout. Then I became a mother and my daughter was a Girl Scout from age of 5 through the age of 18. Yes…she completed all those years and the Girl Scouts taught her many valuable life-lessons.

Now that I am a grandparent and she is a mother…we will be enrolling my grand daughter into the Girl Scouts program next year for her first year of Daisy. We are very fortunate that a good friend of ours is a Girl Scout Leader and my daughter was in her troop for all of those years. Luckily for us…she is still a leader and Princess Gia will be one of her Girl Scout girls come Fall of next year.

Today we wanted to share some important information with all of you. How many of you were in the Girl Scouts or have children in the Girl Scouts?

Barbie & the Girl Scouts have partnered for the first-ever Barbie “Be Anything, Do Everything” Girl Scouts patch. The patch is designed to inspire the next generation of female leaders by encouraging Daisies and Brownies (kindergarten to third grade) to explore endless career possibilities through Barbie. Below are additional details:

* Be Anything, Do Everything Exploration: The “Be Anything, Do Everything” digital activity booklet is offered in English and Spanish, for girls to enjoy with their family, troop members and friends. The booklet includes a “scavenger hunt” for girls to explore a variety of careers, with clues directing girls to choose one of the stories from their national GSUSA books about women doing interesting things in their careers. Finally, girls will pick their favorite GSUSA badge topic and “map out” all the interesting careers that relate to that topic. The booklet will also allow space for girls to capture, via drawing and storytelling, career ideas that have sparked their imaginations.

* Special Patch: Girls who enjoy the “Be Anything, Do Everything” exploration can collect a special “Be Anything, Do Everything” patch which can be displayed on their Girl Scout vests.

* Digital Game and Poll: The GSUSA For Girls website will include girl-focused activities that further encourages girls to explore the careers that interest them.

i was never a Girl Scout but I have a memory of seeing the Brownie outfit at a store and really wanting one. That’s interesting that they’ve made a Barbie patch.

I hadn’t heard of Daisy GS. I went and looked it up on. When I was in (long, long ago) there were only 3 levels:
    Brownies (ages seven through nine)
    Intermediates (ages ten through thirteen)
    Seniors (ages fourteen through seventeen)
    now there are 6:
    Girl Scout Daisy (grades K–1)
    Girl Scout Brownies (grades 2–3)
    Girl Scout Juniors (grades 4–5)
    Girl Scout Cadettes (grades 6–8)
    Girl Scout Seniors (grades 9–10)
    Girl Scout Ambassadors (grades 11–12)

I was never a Girl Scout, but I had so many other activities that I didn’t miss it. I think that it is wonderful that your granddaughter will be in the same troop your daughter was in and under the leadership of your friend. I am sure that she will benefit from it.
