Visiting Historic Mount Rushmore

August 28, 2013 by Classystaff

A few years ago, we took a long vacation and traveled by car to points east. We made sure to take our time and visit many of the spots we wanted to see. Mount Rushmore was one of those spots. I had not been to see it since I was a child myself and my son had never seen it. The monument had not changed at all however everything around it certainly had.

Mount Rushmore

Today there is a beautiful center that tells the history of the monument and how it was created. Plus if you go to see it around dusk, at 8 pm during certain summer days, they play an beautiful musical tribute as the sun sets and then they light up the monument for a bit. It is stunning and really made an impact on all of us.

Here is a lovely picture that we took underneath the monument looking up from the visitor’s center. It is about as close as you can get to it. If you have not been there in a while, make plans to visit again sometime. It was worth it for our family!

A great photo that captures the sculptures of these famous presidents so wonderfully. When I was last there many years ago the center did not yet exist. It would be nice to go there again.

I went to Mt. Rushmore many years ago. They definitely didn’t have anything on the history at the time. The picture you took is great.

Within the past few weeks I was able to see Mount Rushmore. It certainly is beautiful. Your photo captures it with such wonder and amazement!

Gorgeous picture. So envious of you to be able to take a road trip like that. I am amazed and saddened at just how many places there are in our country that I will never get to see in person. So full of absolute beauty and history. Glad you were able to take your son, I am sure he will never forget it.
