Air Brush Make Up Tips

August 8, 2013 by Shelly

Airbrush makeup has become one of the best ways to get a picture perfect makeup. So many people use this type of makeup system because of its sheer and invisible feel on the skin. However the makeup actually has a lot of color and cover that can hide all of those imperfections like large pores, acne scars and discoloration. While makeup artists have known the secret about air brush make up for years, airbrush kits are now popular in almost all makeup and department stores with beauty sections.

There are actually two main different types of airbrushes. The first is a single action brush, and the second is dual. Some prefer a single action airbrush because it’s easier to control while others prefer the coverage of dual action airbrushes.

With spray on makeup, the key thing is to practice first. You’ll want to keep moving the brush and never stay in one spot for too long. This will lead to uneven color. There are also different nozzle sizes for your airbrush gun depending on what type of makeup you are applying. In general, 0.2 mm is good for smaller parts of the face like the eyes, lips and other details. For foundation, neck and chest application, 0.35 mm is perfect. If you want a 0.4 mm, this is mainly for a full body paint that uses a lot of color.

Compressors are specifically made for makeup application. These are built to avoid lots of clean up and don’t rely on any oils that will get into your skin. This way you just have clean air developing on your skin with the makeup.

Good post and information. I have been interested in airbrush make-up and like the look, but I didn’t know much about it. Quite a science and technique. It does seem weird using words like “gun” “mm” and “compressor” talking about make up. 🙂

I have never tried air brush makeup, partially because I had no idea how to use the air brushes. This does make that clearer and perhaps I shall give it a try.
