One of the things I really like about summer is all of those fabulous desserts! Matter of fact, I think summertime desserts are even better than the ones you get around the Christmas holiday.
With all of the summer parties, backyard barbecues, family reunions and other type of summer gatherings many of us attend…this is a fabulous dessert eating season! Yay!!! I love the wide variety of cakes, cupcakes, fruit pies, ice cream cakes, frozen pies, trifles, homemade ice cream…wow…there is just so much yummy desserts to choose from!
Yesterday I made a strawberry and blueberry trifle dessert and my family tore that thing up in rapid fashion…seriously, it was demolished within hours! Since my trifle bowl is still packed from moving, I just prepared it and served it in one of my Tupperware bowls. Delicious! Perhaps I will share the recipe with all of you in the coming weeks.
Anyway, I would love to know what kind of desserts you love to eat during the hot summertime months? Anything you absolutely love and/or craving right now?
Got any yummy summertime dessert recipes to share with all of us? If so, let us know! You can always email them to us & we can publish them on the blog but we will need an original photo to go along with them!
Last summer, I made a fabulous peach cobbler that was so good I made it several times. When I saw Southern peaches on sale last week, I got some and made it again.
The cookbook version lists “sherry, brandy, or bourbon” where the web version just lists “sherry.” I used brandy. The cookbook also offers a non-alcoholic variation, subbing a mixture of 1 tbs lemon juice, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp almond extract, and 1/4 cup water.
I used four large peaches in the latest cake. So good!!!
Julie, I will have to try that peach cobbler recipe…peaches are one of my favorite summertime fruits 🙂
Summertime desserts for me are popsicles & Italian ices and ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery.
Mine has to be watermelon- sweet and juicy or if I can find peaches those are great too.
I like to make my own ice creams and sorbets, also popsicles. I use dairy and also non-dairy, all delish! I also like to make energy bars that don’t require baking.
I love fresh fruit during the hot summer months. Sometimes I will make a pie crust, bake just it in the oven. Then cook fruit, add jello, pour it into the crust and refrigerate. I am eagerly awaiting your fruit trifle recipe
It’s delicious! I will publish the recipe within a week.
If it tastes half as good as it looks… Hurry with the recipe. I like ice cream desserts in the summer.
Fresh fruit and hotter days lead to many wonderful desserts. Whether a simple fruit salad or a complex fruit crisp and ice cream, they all make refreshing summer snacks. Besides flavorful, they are light and hydrating. I love strawberry shortcake. Wish I had some now actually. I think I will add it to my grocery list. 🙂
This looks tasty
