Today I’d like to introduce you to fun and convenient way to get a great workout that fits into any type of schedule. I have been reviewing Workouts on Demand, which is a web site that offers online streaming and downloadable exercise workout videos that are led by fitness professionals. Between work, my son, and his different sports and activities, we have to juggle a lot of things around during the week. I was excited to try this great way to work out without having to go to a gym or attend a class somewhere.
Workouts on Demand has over 200 full-length exercise videos online that can be either downloaded or streamed with your internet connection. You can also watch the workouts on your TV by using either the LG-TV app, Roku, Panasonic Smart Viera or Google TV. The workouts are updated weekly, so the workouts never get old and you’ll always have something new to choose from. Workout routines range from five minutes to 45 minutes, and there a variety of different instructors that can guide you through everything from low impact aerobics and step aerobics to cardio kick boxing and cardio hip hop.
I connected online with my desktop computer in my home office and tried several of the workouts. Luckily, there is a nice area of space in this particular room, so I was able to move around and get my booty moving! I decided to start with some Cardio Hip Hop, which was a little challenging for me, but was a fun work out. I also gave the low impact aerobics a go, which was much easier for me, but still gave me a great workout. I definitely worked up a sweat and felt like I accomplished something afterwards. What had to be my favorite was the Yoga Stretch. I pulled out my yoga mat, ditched the shoes and enjoyed wonderful stretch with a fabulous instructor. I could do yoga with this guy all the time. After sitting at a desk all day, this was a welcome end to my day.
These workouts would be perfect for someone who is new to exercise, or someone who has fallen out of a normal exercise routine. There are workouts for every level of experience and it’s really fun to browse and choose a workout. The workouts remind me of the kinds of classes I would take at a gym, but I liked the fact that I could do them in my home without a swarm of sweaty people surrounding me. It’s so much easier when you can put the kid or kids to bed and then have a little power workout session without leaving the house.
If you aren’t sure where to start, Workouts on Demand even has an Exercise Video Calculator to help you find the perfect workout for you. The site not only has the workouts, but also has an Online Food Journal to help you keep track of the foods you eat, set up your personal diet preferences and log and maintain your progress. This is a terrific tool to help you be more accountable and cognizant about what you are eating each day.
Overall, I think this is an awesome way to introduce or maintain an exercise routine into your busy life. It’s affordable, easy to access and the workout choices are endless. The only downside for me was the music offered with the workouts. I typically love working out to current pop radio hits—there’s something about Rihanna, The Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull that get my blood pumping! Unfortunately, the music tracks you hear with the workouts on Workouts on Demand probably don’t match your iPod playlist. I would assume it’s because of music rights/legalities, which makes sense. I simply just played my own music in the background for some added motivation.
Workouts on Demand is very cost effective, with memberships ranging from $9.99 to $12.99 per month, which is a great deal. Additionally, there are special offers you can take advantage of that will save you some money. This has to be one of the most convenient ways to get your body moving. Grab your motivation, some water and a work out towel.
