Summer is here and it’s time for shorts, tank tops and the dreaded bathing suit. I’ve been working out, but not as much as I should. Luckily, I was sent a copy of Sara Haley’s Sweat Unlimited for review to give me some much needed motivation!
This workout program was designed by international fitness expert, Sarah Haley, who has over twenty years of fitness and dance training. Sara specializes in functional training, prenatal exercise and dance methodology. She has been a Reebok Global Master Trainer since 2008, as well as a Creative Consultant for JUKARI, the branded workout series between Reebok and Cirque du Soleil.
The Sweat Unlimited DVD has five different workouts of increasing length (from 5 to 45 minutes), which provides a workout that will fit into any kind of schedule. What’s also a big plus is that there is no special equipment, so you can do these exercises any time and don’t need to purchase anything special to get a great workout. The exercises are challenging (a lot of huffing and puffing occurred in my living room), but if something is too challenging there is a modification option that you can do. Sarah’s workout is very motivational and this is a workout you can do over and over again without getting bored.
What I feel is especially unique about Sweat Unlimited are the five different workouts which make it incredibly flexible for anyone. As a working mom, I find that between my full-time job and my son’s sports and activities that I’m squeezing in a few minutes here and there for myself when I can. That is what I really loved about this workout. Instead of juggling my schedule to attend a class in a gym that is usually wall-to-wall crowded, I can easily mix and match the workout options to fit what I have time for. With 5 minutes of stretching after work and some strength training after the laundry and my son’s bedtime, this is a work out that works for me.
Here’s the breakdown of the different workouts on the DVD:
• Sweat Extreme 5: Trigger, Tone & Tighten: 5 minutes of Sara’s most effective and energizing exercises that wake up, strengthen and challenge your entire body
• Sweat Strength 15: Burn, Baby, Burn: 15 minutes of total body sculpting that keeps your heart rate up and your muscles burning
• Sweat Cardio 30: Pop, Rock & Drop: 30 minutes of fat-burning cardio drills consisting of moves inspired by the dance club, rock ‘n roll and break dancing (plus a warm up and cool down)
• Sweat Box 45: Punch, Kick & Core: 45 minutes of Tabata-inspired intervals that alternate between boxing drills and core exercises to give you a metabolic burn and core blast
• There is also a BONUS feature: Sweat Stretch 5: Reach, Relax & Rejuvenate: 5 minutes to breathe, stretch and relax as you focus on decreasing muscle soreness
I personally enjoyed the stretching portion as I’ve been dealing with some back strain lately and when I’m feeling a bit more energetic, the Sweat Cardio portion is a section of the video that I gravitate to. I love to dance and move, but am not the most coordinated of individuals. That’s another thing I love about this DVD—you can do this at home, in private and without 30 weight-lifting dudes on the other side of the glass wall in the back of the room. Who designs those gyms anyway?!
No matter your body type or your exercise experience, I think that Sweat Unlimited can be enjoyed by just about anyone and is only $24.95 for 100 minutes of video. Of course, this is no walk in the park, it IS a workout, but if you are committed to stop making excuses and make a fitness routine part of your life, grab your sneakers because the sweating is totally worth it.
